Isn't that what McElroy was drafted for? To be the backup. We just need a vet that could step in and hold the fort.
if there isn't going to be a competition for the starting job.. which obviously there won't be. it doesn't really matter. just bring in a guy who has been a backup before and can handle the snap. let mcelroy be 3rd string since he wasn't really anything last year. come on guys. it's a freaking backup qb.
Could we bring in peyton manning as a back-up? he has health concerns but would be a good presence to have on the bench if he can get back to his best and shouldnt be too expensive (i am thinking an incentives laden deal)
Joe Namath:drunk: should come cheap and Rex said last season if he can still throw he's worth a look. Jokes aside just roll with McElroy thats what he was drafted for, save the cap cause nobody is startin over Sanchez unless he's injured anyway.
Pretty much spot on. Who cares? We know who our starter is already, there's no competition. If Sanchez gets injured we're pretty much dead in the water (well, more than we are already anyway) but not like we would have been an All World team with Henne taking over anyway.
Someone in the media said the Jets need a backup QB to "push" Sanchez and now everyone thinks it's necessary.
Don't need anyone to push him now that he got his extension and vote of confidence. What they need is a quality veteran backup who will be content with that role. McElroy should be the #3 QB in 2012.
Obviously the concern over the back up is all about someone to replace Sanchez. My Choice would be Rodger Staubach. He has great leadership skills and the last time I saw him he looked like he was in better shape than Brunell.
Zach is a dick. Stop injecting logic into the conversation. You are screwing up the E.Manning/Sanchez haters who want(ed) them gone after a sub-par 3rd year team performance. Agreed.
