I can't believe I'm doing this, but I have to say I agree with '#1 Jets Fan'. If we get swept by a division rival without their starting QB, looking at the playmakers we have on the field, we are going to get killed in clutch time by teams like the Titans and Steelers in the postseason, if we happen to make it in.

you know the sad thing is we could be 7-2 right now and have sole possession of 1st in the division making this pats game not a MUST win...but that loss to the raiders and a possible loss to the patriots this upcoming thursday could basically end our playoff hopes..what you think?

perhaps....but nobody gave the Giants a chance to make it to the superbowl last season..let alone win it.....anything can happen, my friend.

I'm not saying we won't have a chance, but to truly have a GOOD chance in the postseason, you have to hedge your bets by getting it together by midseason and doing well against divisional opponents.

Not at all. As much as people like to bash the Raider loss it has almost no effect on where we stand. Even if we had beat the raiders, if we fail to beat the Pats on Thursday, they would have swept us and have the tie breaker anyway. We are very fortunate that our loss came to the raiders instead of to the bills/fins. I'd say it is highly likely that a wildcard spot is coming from the AFCE, so 2nd will still get us into the playoffs, we just wouldn't get a bye week or homefield advantage :)

A good shot? This game is a walk in the park unless Favre starts throwing picks. The first one should have been too.

The Jets have won some games this year where BF was irrelevant. I think this is going to be a game where the team needs him to light it up. I'm hoping that the reason Keller was finally thrown to in the Rams game was because the CS is getting ready to showcase him against the Pats. When Keller was drafted he was supposed to be a Pats killer, hopefully he's ready.

I think the pats game is a game we must approach as a must win, but if we do lose that game its not the end of the world, looking at the big picture we have to go at least 3-2 to be considered playoff contenders, But I would love to smack around the Pats come thursday

    Guys,
All games against the Pats are going to be knock down drag out brawls. Matter of fact that's the way it's always been for any division rival in the AFC East we play, Bill Pats, or Fins. If we suck or they suck a win is never in the bag, it's alway hard fought and earned.

Now having said that, you have to like the Jets chances a slight bit better then the first game we played. The Jets have had half a season to jell and come together and so far it looks to be happening at the right time. The Jets are still looked upon as flukes no matter how good the stats have been. We just have to hope the Pats in the back of there minds think this team is all smoke and mirrors as well.

We need to play mistake free football, I believe in my heart the team that can get as close to that as possiable Thursday night, will win the game. We need to take it to the Pats on the ground and try to impose our running game down there throats. If we can do this and they are forced to bring up eight and nine in the box, well, then we got'em . Brett goes with the play action over the middle only taking what they give us. Keep the Pats defense on the field as long as possiable and keep our guys fresh and ready to get after Cassell. :shit:

One thing that the Pats will test us with is those darn screens. We need to be ready for them by floating a LB'er in that open space and just waiting for that pass. We can also blow them up by keeping the corners up and playing more of a 4-2 with three CB's and 2 Safeties. We have to hope that our front four can hit Matt enough to make him nervous without giving up too much coverage on the deep side.

Again, don't think the Pats are going to roll over, I don't care how many injuries they have. They are in the Jets heads and they are counting on that to help them win this game.

Thursday night will be a huge chance for the Jets to finally get that monkey off there back and turn the tables on the Pats. A win will also open the eyes of many of the so called experts and suddenly Friday morning the bandwagon will get very crowded. Yet, you old timers know, gotta take it one game at a time and not get too high or low.....
