    Probably Vinny in 1998?

The MVP has pretty much turned into the “best QB” award.

Revis deserved MVP consideration in 2009 but he did not even win defensive MVP.

Certainly was the best single season performance any Jet had had in recent memory.

Last non QB to win an MVP was Adrian Peterson in 2012 so going on near a decade. It’s been 35 years since a defensive player won MVP (LT in 1986)

As Noam already mentioned, Revis of 2009. His 2010 season was even more dominant too (statistics wise) because QBs challenged him in 2009 (failed) but they wouldn't even look his way in 2010.

Before Revis, it was #28 Curtis 'my favorite' Martin (2004).

371 rushing attempts for 1,697 rushing yards (4.6 yards per pop) and 12 rushing TDs along with another 41 receptions for 245 receiving yards and 2 TD Receptions with a sick catch rate of 83.7%; (1,942 All-purpose yards from scrimmage and 14 Offensive TDs combined).

We went 10-6 and beat the Chargers in the Wildcard round.

And what made his 2004 season so magical? Is that no defenses respected Pennington's arm and stacked 7-8 men in the box every play but yet still couldn't stop the man.

But of course Peyton Manning won MVP.

    God do I miss #28.

What made his 2005 career ending injury so tragic was that even at age 31 he wasn't slowing down. Had 10 consecutive years of 1,000+ rushing yards and in 2005 he already had 735 rushing yards during only week 12 (before his injury) and was going to break 1k for the 11th consecutive season (and behind an O-Line that was starting to age and fall apart) all while Chad Pennington was injured (Penny missed 13 games that year).

Martin doesn't go down week 12 of 2005? He would've easily passed both Barry Sanders and then Walter Payton over the next 2-3 years, max (fell 2,625 yards away from Sweetness for #2 All-Time). The way he was running in 2004-2005? Only injury could've stopped him.

I don't think he - or anyone else - ever got serious consideration while TD was running for 2000 yards in Denver.

Did we have a viable MVP candidate in 1982? That was the season of MARK MOSELEY getting it, which'll probably never happen again (or any special teams player getting it).

I loved Revis in 2009 but his 2010 season was even, better (the year he held Reggie Wayne to 1 catch for 1 yard against Manning in the playoffs). 2009 Revis was amazing because he shut down so many big name WRs because QBs were challenging him, but in 2010? He wasn't getting challenged anymore (@ all) because QBs literally wouldn't even look his way. It was insane. In 2010 all he had to do was line up @ CB and he immediately impacted the game because QBs came into the season knowing they wouldn't dare look his way. He dominated just by showing up.

Curtis Martin in 1998 was awesome but his 1998 season can't compare to his 2004 season.

#28 2004: 371 rushing attempts for 1,697 rushing yards (4.6 yards per pop) and 12 rushing TDs along with another 41 receptions (83.7% catch rate) for 245 receiving yards and 2 TD receptions.

(1,942 All-purpose yards from scrimmage and 14 Offensive TDs (combined).

There have been great RBs who've put up better numbers but Martin's season of 2004 is one of the greatest RB performances of All-Time (imo) because opposing D's did not respect Chad Pennington after shoulder surgery and they laughed at his arm strength, so therefore, they absolutely fully loaded the box with 7-8 men. every play; but yet still couldn't stop or even contain Martin from running wild.

    I miss those days.

Vinny in 1998 and he probably wins it if he started the entire year

Yesssss Broadway Vinny was magical and went 12-1!

Which is why it bothers me when certain Jets fans say Ryan Fitzpatrick of 2015 had the greatest Jets season since Joe Namath. Um. No he didn't, Vinny of 1998 did!

    Vinny of 1998 went...
    12-1 (.923%).
    259/421 (61.5%).
    3,256 passing yards.
    29 TDs/7 INTs (4.1 TD-to-INT Ratio).
    QB Rating of 101.6!

(+ an AFC Championship Game appearance for my favorite Jets team of All-Time and the last time we've ever won the AFC East).

Also Chad Pennington of 2002 (before injury) was absolutely magical and if would've played all 16 games (came off the bench) he could've won MVP.

    Chad Pennington of 2002 went...
    8-4 (.666%).
    275/399 (68.9%).
    22 TDs/6 INTs (3.6 TD-to-INT Ratio).
    QB Rating of 104.2.

(+ Whooped Peyton Manning's ass 41-0 with 3 TDs/0 INTs in the playoffs as a FIRST YEAR STARTER!).

Jets fans we forget just how SPECIAL this kid was before his shoulder injuries. If Penny stayed healthy? It's Manning vs Brady vs PENNINGTON instead of just Brady vs. Manning.

My two favorite QB years right there.
