    Since returning from his ailment he's batting .257 w/ just 7 Hrs and 16 RBI, #s that project well short of the pace he was on.

    Why couldn't the red sox do the same deal as the yankees did at the deadline? They have plenty of $ to spend but they didn't pull the trigger- they were busy trying to get Andruw Jones and Roger Clemens and failed. Jeter held the team together when ARod was horrible and we had all the injuries. I don't think Jeter is a slam dunk winner but he certainly deserves it along w/ a couple of the Twins players. ortiz is out of the running.

    If you honestly feel that David Ortiz is a capable defensive first baseman, then you clearly haven't watched as many Red Sox games as you lead us to believe.

    He's not a gold glover but he's not the worst in the game.
