Still want Mikey Floyd as a member of the Jets family but voted Upshaw though Big Mike Adams got him good this past Sunday.

Upshaw will never explode or put on sick stats but steady play is what's coming out of him, which is nothing to be mad about.

You roll the dice in the later rounds, not in round 1. Round 1 you want a SURE thing and someone your confident in.

I dont think Upshaw will be there at 16.
Ingram scares the hell out of me --- despite having a very good Senior Bowl week, he really didnt dominate this past year at South Carolina like I expected him to.
Nick Perry really came on this season. He's 1st round material,......just not sure if he's 16th overall.
Guys talking about Vinny Curry in the 2nd round. I could live with that BUT ONLY IF we get a Tier 1 OT with the first pick and I dont think we will.

So the proper call is Whitney Mercilus!

Instead of looking at stats and measurables, watch the kids play the game. Do that and Ingram is easily the best football player.

For all the "well upshaw is safe he played in the 3-4 before" please name me one Nick Saban stud OLB product in the NFL that he has produced during his 15+ years of dominant college defense. Upshaw has zero chance of being an elite PR, which is what we need. Not a BT clone, or Calvin Pace clone.

The Mercilus fan boys are even worse. "he's da next JPP!".....kid looks LOST on a football field.

    Watch the games people!

Free agent Cliff Avril of the Lions.

There will be some very good 3-4 OLB prospects on the board at 16, but I don't think any of them are quite the athlete Avril is or ready to make an impact on the pro level as a pass rusher.

This would, as a side bar, also free us up to use our 1st pick on a WR like Alshon Jeffery or Michael Floyd or an O-lineman like Cordy Glenn. Or we could double up on pass rushers AND take Courtney Upshaw to have dominant bookend pass rushers. Oh the options.

This is how I feel. Avril seems to be ready to explode; just not sure how much he would cost.

Out of the guys who are listed in this poll, I like Ingram.

A lot of people like Upshaw because he's supposedly the "safer" pick. I think that's the very reason the Jets should NOT take him. He was practically invisible in the Senior Bowl Game. He's slow and has no burst. He would be a pedestrian pass rusher. Bryan Thomas redoux. No thanks!!! IMO, the Jets need someone with speed and quickness who has the potential to really become a stud. I'd rather they go with Mercilius, Curry, Perry or Ingram (in that order) over Upshaw. Upshaw might be a good complimentary OLB with a stud on the other side, but I'm hoping the Bills will grab him. In the mid to lower rounds, I like Adrian Hamilton, the Irvin kid or Shea McClellin.

If the Jets had a ton of cap space (which they don't), I'd love Avril. Still, there's a chance he won't be able to make the transition to OLB.

I think the Jets are only gonna have in the neighborhood of $4-$8 million to use on FAs and that needs to be spent on a S and RT, not an OLB. This is a strong, deep draft for OLBs, the best I can ever remember. It would be criminally dumb IMO to sign a FA OLB and not draft at least one. With Pace being gone within the next couple of years, I think they need to double-dip at OLB.

    Bryan Thomas is gone!!

The Jets addressed the D-line last year, it's time to add some playmakers at linebacker.

I think Upshaw gives us the greatest chance of setting the edge and stopping the run consistently. Rex Ryan's system does not depend on particular rushers to get the job done, he sends all sorts of different people to go after the quarterback from corners, safeties and linebackers. Dallas has DeMarcus Ware and where did that get Dallas in a Ryan system? I'd take Ware in a heartbeat, but it does not necessarily equal make for results in a Ryan system. I'd take Upshaw.

Every single report out of the Senior Bowl was the Johnson is strictly a 4-3 DE.
