IMO Key deserves every bit of hate he gets. He acted like a stupid, spoiled brat and was all mouth. Most Jets fans think he was great. I think he was shit. He was tall and could catch Vinny's high and wide passes, but he had zero speed and was not a team player. It was all about him. I was glad when Revis was traded because of his greed, but he played great and kept his mouth shut, and I didn't think the team could afford to pay him; otherwise I would never have had a problem with Revis. Key was my least favorite Jet ever. As awful players as they were, I liked Adrien Clarke and Wayne Hunter better than Keyshawn.
That's because he was saddled with Richie no brain Kotite and his clueless coaching staff. It was beyond bizarre that they didn't include their #1 overall pick in their game plan, that they brought him along so slowly when he was better than anyone else we had, including the "team mascot". He was speaking out against the injustice he was dealing with. He just wanted to win, and he knew that he could help the team win but wasn't being given the chance.
Under Kotite, Keyshawn wrote a book titled "Give Me the Damn Ball". Unlike Kotite, Key had a ton of respect for Bill Parcells. Even after getting cut by Bill when he was a Cowboy, Key always called Parcells "Coach" every time I ever saw them together on ESPN.
No, as I recall he wrote his book "Just throw me the damn ball" following the 96 season, or at least the book was in response to that season. He "earned" his reputation from his reactions to what happened during his rookie season. I don't recall him acting out at all with Parcells.

I have to say Mark Sanchez. His first 2 seasons as Jets QB he won 4 playoff games and played solid in 2 AFC Title Games, including an 80 yard touchdown pass to Braylon Edwards, in 2011 he combined for 32 Touchdowns (26 passing 6 rushing), then in 2012 Tony Sparano and Tim Tebow showed up and that was all she wrote.
Probably none. But Keyshawn helped us win a divisional playoff game, and helped the Bucs win a Super Bowl. And from all accounts he was a great teammate for them.
What kind of a teammate he was with the Bucs is completely irrelevant, the point is that he was a selfish asshole with the Jets and that is why he gets so much hate from Jets fans, he's not underrated, he is disliked for being a complete dickhead

I didn't remember that but good point. I was trying to focus on what kind of person he was with the Jets, and THAT was shabby at best which is why he was traded away so readily Maybe "Truth"'needs to learn the definition of the term "by all accounts"
I think I'm going to second the vote for Joe Fields, as others have. GREAT player. That said, may I nominate a couple of others who have not been mentioned yet? Jerome Barkum - Played WR, played TE, contributed a lot at both positions and was a tremendous Jet. Unfortunately spent most of his Jets career on bad teams. Freeman McNeil - IMO, just as good as Curtis, and won us a big playoff game by practically by himself. I know, I know, Curtis Martin HOF'er... Johnny Hector - didn't get to do a lot for us because of the man I previously mentioned, but was very talented, and overlooked. Maybe he doesn't belong in this conversation, but was an excellent, overlooked player. Rob Moore - Similar to Barkum in that he was here at the wrong time. Terrible teams.
