I know this thread is meant to make people decide that the current QB isn't ready, but if Geno does actually take some serious steps this year... this thread could look stupid. Obviously right now, Marty should be the choice. Geno can't even take a series of snaps under center... from what we have seen. I want to see 7 more games before I can really take this thread seriously.
So, are you quibbling with the notion that Geno developing into a franchise quarterback would forever render this thread retarded, hysterical, and hella-bumpable?
To look at an example of how much an impact an excellent OC can have, just look at two back ups in Philly and how they performed under MM when they got the chance to start: 1: Jeff Garcia. As a pretty much washed up 36 year old journeyman and having basically shit the bed over the latter part of his career in San Fran and then thereafter in Cleveland and Detroit, MM helped Garcia do nothing less than resurrect his ability to perform at a high level. In 2006, he compiled a 5-1 record as a starter, the second highest QB rating (95.8) in his entire 12 year professional career after consecutively registering 65.1, 76.7, 80.1 and 85.6 with the latter two ratings from his final two years as a 49er and the first two in Detroit and Cleveland with his career low rating of 65.1 coming the year immediately preceding his arrival in Philadelphia when MM turned him around and enabled him to shine after McNabb went down and Garcia took over the offense. 2. The more recent and well know example is, of course, our own Michael Vick, who, under MM, put together his best statistics as a passer by far in essentially every relevant category in 2010.
I'm quibbling at the assumed intentions of the thread. Also, aren't most threads "retarded, hysterical, and hella-bumpable" in hindsight for whoever the incorrect parties are?
1) There were no explicit "assumed intentions" mentioned in the post you quoted that weren't totally reasonable based on your well-documented lack of belief in Geno. 2) The bolded is true . . . but not to the extent that this thread would be if Geno works out. It will be fun to see.
What do you call the bold below? Not sure why anyone who elected MM, which includes the poster above calling this a potentially stupid thread if Geno pans out, should have to be mocked by their choice down the line since the question is as of right now and not 7 games from now. I'm sure Sanchez haters won't feel "retarded", if by some miracle he pans out. I'm sure they will feel that everything they felt and wrote about Sanchez was applicable at the time.
I can't help but think that anyone who said Geno was more important was not around here for the Shotty/Sparano years.
Since the bold as added after the fact, I'll respond again to this post. Based on this poll's results, it seems I'm not alone in not being completely sold on Geno yet. That aside I really just wanted to know who Jets fans thought was more valuable. Frankly, I'm VERY surprised that the majority, at least thus far, agreed with me and chose MM. IMO MM has been our best offensive acquisition in the Idzik era. The "hidden agenda" with this thread, if there really is one, is probably more driven by my fear of losing MM than it has to do with any doubts I have in Geno.
Is this your way of hiding from me? Because you could actually figure out a way to talk football in between your rectal discharges if you really want to.
edited post is . . . edited. Haha, I would honestly feel pretty retarded if Sanchez turned into a great quarterback. And this thread will look rather silly if Geno turns into a legit franchise quarterback. It's just the way it is. No biggie. And who is threatening to "mock" anyone? A humorous, timely bump never hurt anybody. Stop being such a pussy.
It's pretty safe to say that this thread is ill conceived, but somebody has an agendum and is pretending that it has some logic behind it. Who is more valuable? A player or a coach? How exactly do you quantify their worth? How exactly do you separate their worth? It's really an idiotic concept. But if it satisfies the agendum of some doofus draft dork, LET'S DEBATE!!
1) I edited that like 2 minutes after I posted it. 2) Hahaha, so, you didn't intend this thread to be a subtle indictment of Geno, and yet, your first interpretation of the poll results is that people aren't sold on Geno. Sure. It all depends on what Geno becomes. If Geno becomes a consistently good quarterback for years to come, then he easily becomes more valuable than any O.C. Simply put, we're talking about the single most crucial position in all of team sports. If Geno never pans out, it's easily MM. However, regardless of any and all relevant speculation on the discussion at hand, the ultimate answer remains hidden in future revelations.
