One fumble should not hurt you. If a guy is making plays for a month and fumbles once and gets cut......then you deserve for him to get picked up by your rival and have him kill you for 10 years. Even great players fumble once. Everybody fumbles, especially nowadays where guys smart bomb their helmets into the ball...5 guys gang tackle you and one is ripping your arms out. Part of the game now more than ever. Try to maximize your YAC, you're gonna fumble a few times.
Rogers, are you kidding me? Just out of interest, what did he do that impressed you? MISSED an easy deep catch and a muffed punt return, I reckon the best this kid can hope for is the PS
i saw those things but i included him on the list more to recognize the overall preseason/practice performance. i would be all in for the practice squad for rogers. forgot to add campbell to the list. that one play along the sideline was nice. PS also for him likely. also forgot about bell and madu - one of them will be out and its a tough call.
True, he's had a very good TC, maybe last night was a case of nerves. Bell and Madu (for me) is a no brainer - Bell stays. Out of all the backs he's actually the one who has impressed me most, breaking tackles and fighting for yards. I think Powell and Bell could be a very good combo, both can also play wildcat. I also think that Madu will get picked up soon if we do cut him
End of thread right here. Bell was a beast last night, fumble aside, and Spadola shows up every time he's on the field, including ST. Simms has shown more promise then McElroy has ever shown in any game he's played. No way we can cut any of these guys.
He did the same vs Detroit in week 1 dropped a bomb from Simms which was a sure thing TD. Simms Bell Spadola Douzable Sapp All impressed last night
Bell looked great, although lets not forget Woodhead was an Eagle killer every preseason. I do like Douzable. He's got a great name as well. "Ehhhh ya know, it's doozable!". I think Spadola will make the team for sure now. He did have the one fumble, however. Mike Edwards looked decent
Simms, Bell,Spadola,Campell,Abamanu, and there was a d lineman that got a few sacks I forget his name but he looked like a beast, also Dan Carpenter looked good
Can't believe i'm saying this, but Ducasse looked good. The wildcat TD run was all Ducasse with a block outside, scraped off, and a heads up seal block on the LB inside. I don't expect big things, but he might be serviceable. Thats a big jump considering i thought he had no shot to make the team. The rest of the Oline who played last night.......oyyyyyyy Smith sucked, as did Oboushi. Schlauderlaff didn't impress much. Winters i hoped would start week 1, but it's clear he is not ready regarding pass protection (but good at run blocking). everyone of those guys i believe let up a sack. That's another reason i was impressed with Simms. Seemed to have short term memory after getting drilled...ready for the next play w/o jitters. showed some toughness and leadership i felt.
I really feel for the O line, it can't be easy playing next to someone who constantly blows their assignment and in doing so has an effect on theirs. I'm sure Smith, Freeman and Oboushi will be gone, and possibly JB Shugarts as well. Sad night for the O line. There was one play where an Eagle LB had a clear untouched path into Simms, and another where Bell (I think) was getting tackled as the ball was being handed off
Jason Smith is scary bad. So many times where he would flat out "whiff" on his man. I'm not getting the Zack Rogers love. The skinny malink is way too inconsistant imho. Gotta admit that the semi-sidearmer Simms has stepped it up a notch. But let's not forget he threw a sure pick-6 on his very first pass. Lucky for him the DB muffed it. Bell did well. Our LBs are so late covering swing passes out to the RBs on the edge. I think Nick Bellore was the only one to do so when he recognized that screen and shut it down.
