lol, you think he's going to try to force himself to Miami just to screw FSU? Unlike Favre I don't think anyone's going to rush to hire an 80-year old Bowden and if he's honest with himself he should just enjoy his retirement.
I don't know that Stoops takes that job unless they agree to start bending the recruiting rules again as heavily as they did under Holtz. He's had free reign at Oklahoma, but he'll find his recruiting pool cut down at ND. It's my understanding that they're not as stringent as Duke or Stanford when it comes to academic standards for football players, but definitely a few steps above Oklahoma. Still, I don't know that Notre Dame wants to take a chance on another up and coming coach. They're seeking a proven commodity, and they just might agree to Stoops' wishes in order to bring in a winner again.
ND has the graduation rate pretty high for their players. They are a tightass Catholic University, it comes with the territory. They can get the high rated QBs, but they can't get defensive skill players anymore.
Snyder "resigned" at Marshall, yet he gets the remaining three years on his contract. Hmmmmmm.... Local rumors have Jim Donnan returning. My money's on Mickey Matthews of James Madison moving up from I-AA (FCS) back to Marshall, where he was an assistant at one time. He's also won an FCS championship at JMU, if I'm not mistaken.
Charlie Strong is leaving to Louisville. http://www.latimes.com/sports/nationworld/wire/sns-ap-fbc-louisville-search,0,724900.story
Not liking that decision for him, there had to be other teams considering him, and that Louisville squad has turned into an abyss the past few years. If I were him I would have went to a secondary conference, where he could have built up a program then made the jump to a high end school once he gets experience as an HC. His ability as a defensive coach and recruiter could have dominated a smaller conference while he learned the job.
Tell me about it, I've been saying that since scout.com published the most painful lie in my entire life a year ago.
