If we are talking multiple teams at 10-6, then it is good if the Chiefs win tonight. So go ahead and root for them in San Diego in 45 minutes.
WRONG. There are NO positives in a KC loss. We're NOT getting in at 9-7. We win ALL tiebreakers against them at 10-6, and they knock Denver out of our way.
No. We won't have to worry about KC at all if they win. There is NO WAY the jets get in at 9-7. And that is the only way KC can pass us. We NEED KC to win. edit - jetsin2004 beat me too it
The only way we're making the playoffs is if we win out. If we do win out, KC cannot make the playoffs over us, even if they win out. It would be much more beneficial to us if KC wins, because it also hurts Denver (a team that holds tie-breakers over us).
KC has a better division record than Denver, and therefore knock Denver out because divisional tiebreaks must be broken first.
oo ok.. i feel stupid asking all these questions but for some reason this whole thing wasn't getting through to me
Yeah. It all seems ambiguous, but looking at these stuff for the last 5 years under this tiebreak structure has kind of nailed it into the heads of many people.
ok.. one more question.. is the head to head tiebreaker used for the wildcard... if we finish with the same record as jax with a better confrence record who wins?
If KC wins out and the Jets win their last 2 the Jets make the playoffs. Jets 10-6(Jets at 7-5 in conference beat out KC) KC 10-6 Jax 9-7 Denver(Doesn't matter if KC wins out because if they both finish 10-6 KC elimates them) Cincy(Doesn't matter because they can only shift the Jets from a 5 to a 6 seed) So go KC
Wait im confused... If KC does win today, then they are tied with us and your right Denver COULD NOT advance. But if Denver wins out and KC loses one of their last two games, then this doesnt matter.
If KC wins their next three games then nothing Denver does matters. In order to win their next three they have to win tonight. That's why it's better for the Jets if KC beats SD.
Baker, it's true that a seventh loss for the Chiefs would render the argument moot, but until that actually happens, there's no reason not to root for an additional means by which the Jets could qualify. Moreover, a Chiefs victory has secondary value. Assuming they don't collapse against the Raiders next week, they will still be in playoff contention when they face Jacksonville in Week 17. Obviously, a Jaguars loss could prove critical for the Jets' hopes.
But this means that Buffalo's playoff hopes fall into our grasps on Christmas day. Win and Buffalo is out, even if we lose to Oakland (somehow)
see you root for herm to help out the jets and bang LT goes for 80! there are sooo many teams still alive we won't really know until next monday b4 our game -- we will know what we have to do and what has to happen b4 we even play.
yo i really feel that if we play san diego in the playoffs we will kick there ass. kerry rhodes guarding gates all game and all we have to worry about is lt
Outside of todays game, our Run D has been pretty bad and you know who runs for SD...and Im not even talking about LT too. Turner could give us fits.
