Kendall Wright, Justin Hunter, Nate Washington - that isn't all that bad. No superstars but adequate. Delaine Walker at TE is a beast. You never really know though. I think they go with Randy Gregory if his stock doesn't drop.
Winston has already screwed up badly. I think he needs to do some image repair before he's a lock on the 1 pick.
I don't think he's screwed up enough to scare the Bucs away - I know he had a sketchy past, but this is an immature kid that can play the game. FSU product. He's going to need to fail that interview process in order for him to drop.
Haven't really "scouted" the other guys yet, so I take anyone but Mariota at this point. The kid has neither the throwing power or the accuracy to make it as a NFL thrower.
I'm putting aside big tanking of draft stock for Winston over rape stuff at this point. Meaning I doubt it's going to go around that he acted so guilty and likely to do something again that nobody including the Jets or any potential trade up team would want anything to do with him. I do allow for the distinct possibility that any individual team looking at Winston as the first or 2nd pick (including prospective trade ups) will view Winston as a character risk and deem him unworthy of a top pick on that basis, choosing instead to go for a safe and reliable prospect with less but good upside. If Winston gets passed over as the first pick there isn't much stopping his slide to 6. But if Winston is selected first (the most likely scenario in my mind) at that point I'm seeing Mariota in green and white a good chunk of the time because of questions surrounding translating Mariota's success to the NFL offense. Because one of the top 2 QBs could fall to us no matter who is selected with the first pick there should be a very real chance to wind up with one or the other.
Daniel Jeremiah, who I have a lot of respect for and seems to know his stuff, on Winston said it's just been death by a million paper cuts and not one smoking gun. I don't think it'll be enough to scare the Bucs off either.... then again his stats and some of the games I watched this previous season do show a kid who was mentally distracted/disengaged. Didn't have much talent on the outside but he should have been playing at a higher level
Winston willed his team to win those games idk to many QBs that can handle all of the negative comments and critism from people that did not read the police report that shows how much the "accuser" lied and changed her story. But people just want to jump on the first thing they hear. Also he had two true freshman as WR and no running game the first 8 games of the season and he just wouldn't let his team lose. Guy has all the tools and size to be a pro QB. BTW I will say he did some stupid stuff but most of that stuff many stupid college kids do.
He was also the, reason he had to will his team to wins some games That being said I would take winston over mariota anyday
That's true but a lot of his interceptions were from his inexperienced WR cutting routes short or not running the right kind
I chose Shane Ray, dude is a Beast, Mariota is going to take a while to help the Jets. Ray comes right in and puts up 6 to 10 sacks. Draft the QB from Colorado State (Grayson) in the 3rd, he has experience under center and has pocket skills and a solid arm. He also has large hands, which could do him well in the type of weather NY has. The draft would look like this, 1 Ray 2 Strong/DGB 3 Grayson
I'd love Mariota but I think it's more likely we land Ray or Cooper. If so, we should draft the Baylor QB Petty in the third. He's got a lot of upside. He just needs to learn how to play in an NFL offense.
If Mariota falls to 6 then obviously draft Mariota...if not, then draft Amari cooper...if he's not available take an OL....but for the love of God if jameis winston is available DO NOT DRAFT HIM
I agree I like winston to regardless of his off field issues....plenty of HOF players had issues going into the draft and went on to be great
