No, that's not the rule. He can't be BETTER than Chad. If you are voting for him he can only be as GOOD as Chad. _
Mariota could injure his shoulder, Ray could get a DUI. You are getting the college player fresh out of the box with a clean slate and no baggage. Do you want a starting QB for the Jets that we can rely on or do you want a pro bowler / stud at one of the other positions?
Well if you want to skew results, why don't you make the other choices all HOFers and make Mariota Joey Harrington. _
That's the whole point? Who in their right mind wouldn't sign up for a chance at a clean slate do over with Chad Pennington's career as Jets QB. No I want 30 more years of Geno Smith and Mike Vick please.
I don't know about that. I thought he was good but would have had a lot of trouble deep into the playoffs against the best defenses. Before the injuries we played the Raiders in the playoffs. Their DL treated our smaller OL like rag dolls and pressured Pennington up the middle. Since that game it seemed to me that he was less consistent in games where he was getting pressured or knocked down. Our OL was very good so there were a lot of games where Pennington had lots of time in the pocket and looked great.
If this was really the choice you go get the QB for sure. It's the most important position in the sport by a wide margin. So a good reliable QB that you can win with year in and out is more valuable than any other piece you can plug into the equation at almost any level of performance. It's not at all clear that Mariota is at that level and that's why we're having the discussion at all.
(having just voted for Mariotta) Currently the voting reads 88.9% to 11.1% in favor of Mariotta. Even conditionally, there's your landslide JH.
Better odds Cooper is on the board than Mariota imo. If he falls past the first 2 spots which I don't see Tennessee passing him up, someone will trade up for him. I'm voting the realistic Shane Ray because I see Winston, Gregory, Cooper, and Mariota already off the board.
I'd take Mariotta if available at 6. Or if offered by a team like Phila a good trade down. I'd like a rebuild on the infrastructure starting with the O-line. I would not take an O-lineman with the sixth pick. I'd rather trade down and draft two.
