Plus he's a 3 year starter, unlike Mariota who most likely decided he needed another year of experience.

Not sure Teddy needs another year, he just needs some bulk. NFL training program bulk, no disrespect to the Louisville strenght program.

He's more likely to come out than to stay. He's completing his degree in December as a Junior. So academically he doesn't have much to stay for.

On the other hand he's got a bunch of people he's been playing with for 3 years now. He'd probably like to finish the job he started with them. He would be doing post-graduate studies next season at Louisville. How many big time athletes have also had eligibility left at their institution after they graduated? It would be like a year to work at polishing his skills and putting on more muscle.

The course work he was taking would not be the main focus for him. Being sure he was ready for the NFL while finishing the job he started at Louisville would be the task at hand.

I can just see arguments both ways. He'd be a kind of legendary player in that 2015 draft if he stayed. You think NFL teams wouldn't be salivating at the chance to get a guy who was committed to finishing what he started instead of jumping for the quick bucks?

The other factor might well be who has the 1 to 3 picks. Does he like that group of teams or does he think he could do better by staying in school for a year. Who does he want to play for?

Remember Peyton Manning approaching the Jets through Archie and asking them if he was going to be their 1 pick? He stayed in school when he didn't get the answer he wanted out of them. He was an even better prospect in 1997 than Bridgewater is now. He graduated after his Junior year and played as a post graduate student his Senior year of eligibility.

    Some things are very circular.

Thats what Im thinking, there's no point in discussing Bridgewater, that's not happening. The discussion starts with Carr and Manziel.

By the way, just wanted to get a feel from some of you guys here, are most of you rooting against the Jets at this point? I mean they're a terrible team but their playoff chances are still very much alive. I think at this point Im Just rooting for a draft pick. Last year we were awful but I still kept the hope until that Monday nighter against Tennessee

Although I know Sunday at 1 I'll end up rationalizing in my head somehow that we're still in it, lol.

Root for the Jets to win. Just imagine rooting against the Jets for the Fins week 17. Just the thought of that turns my stomach.

Damn that didnt even cross my mind, no matter what, i would love to crush the dolphin playoff hopes if they needed to win that final game.

Pay them a little revenge for that final game in 2011

We're lucky that the Raiders and the Fins are both on the schedule. That's my two most hated NFL teams and I want the Jets to win both games and damn the draft picks.

On the Bridgewater thing, imagine that Bridgewater goes to the Texans through an intermediary and asks them if he will be the 1 pick for them if he comes out (assuming they have it of course). The Texans get a bit squirrelly and hedge their bets and the next day Bridgewater announces he is returning to Louisville for his Senior year.

He'd love to come out and play in that dome with the talent the Texans have on hand but life in Jacksonville nee London doesn't look so good. That's just one scenario but it illustrates the kind of decisions Bridgewater is going to have to make over the next month or so.

He's also thinking about the millions of dollars he will be making, the risk of injury if he goes back to college, and the risk of losing draft stock if he had a shitty senior year.

If he's smart- he will be in this years draft.

Peyton Manning said no back in the day when the 1 pick got a huge contract, much bigger comparatively speaking than today's rookie wage scale. Are you saying Peyton Manning was not smart to stay in school?

And I think there were fewer questions about where Manning would be selected than Bridgewater faces.

And was Barkley smart to stay his senior year? It goes both ways.

The bottom line is that he has very little to gain but a lot to lose by staying an extra year.

Barkley was afraid to come out in the Luck/RGIII draft class. He might have gotten taken up high in that group but certainly not above those two. He might also have started dropping like a stone and not gotten taken in the first couple of rounds.

    Luck
    RGIII
Tannehill because of the coaching connection

And Barkley is in freefall at that point.

Bridgewater is the consensus #1 QB in this draft, no one compares to Bridgewater in this draft. So what does Bridgewater REALLY have to gain going into a draft potentially with an improved Hundley, Mariotta and maybe Winston? An education? He can go back to school during the off-season and take classes on his own and graduate.

Peyton wanted a chance at beating Florida, and winning a National Title. Bridgewater doesn't have the opportunity to compete for a National Title, not with the SEC and FL States out there. Hell if Louisville went undefeated this year, they wouldn't be in the NC talks I bet due to their SOS.

If he goes back to school, he risks far more. The only people that benefit from him will be the people he is throwing to. They can increase their stock with a great college QB.

There is a chance he could go back, but I doubt it.

Again with the benevolence play with you.

The NFL doesn't give a crap about whether someone did the right thing and stuck around instead jumping for the quick bucks. They want a player period, morality be damned. I know you guessed right on Mariota staying in school, but if he came out there are zero teams who would have given a fuck that he didn't do the right thing and stayed in school--Jax or Houston or Minny would have drafted him without a second thought.

You're a smart poster, why the idealistic hyperbole?

You are wasting time arguing with this Geno apologist.

No QB should come out this year and seniors should apply for a redshirt year. Or 2. We don't want anyone competing with Geno, he is the future.

Why anyone would think it'd be a good idea to come out when Winston and Mariota come out is silly.

Geezuz, look at how effortless his first pass was. Not that the guy took it in for a TD, but it's as if he can just hit anyone anywhere at any time.

It looks like pitch and catch.

That guy is not missing Nelson by 10 yards when he's standing 15 yards away from him.

Are we still allowed to discuss him?

    In the Draft forum?

Or only if we can get him?

Just checking protocol and guidelines and such.
