how can you be more impressed with one player or another when you didn't even watch the damn game? whatever man, rationalize it however you want, I don't care to argue. and geno again. ah fuck me for getting baited but he's a such a bad quarterback, how do you not see this! let it go! his metrics screamed bust and now he is playing like one, building around him is a horrible idea. He's shown absolutely nothing his year to flash potential to be a guy you want to build around. yes, one year of this shit IS enough. Seriously you're going to count the NO game as a plus? he threw for like 7 total yards in that game. Handing the ball off is not game managing. And no, he didn't get the first down when we needed it; our last drive one first down woulda sealed it instead of giving it back to Brees, they had like 10 guys in the box and we still ran it because he's a turnover machine. I've already talked in depth about how bad Atlanta's defense is in other threads. pats game was good because he only threw one pick six, nice. He's having the worst rookie campaign in history and you want to give him another year. I understand that you believe he can magically be a franchise qb because you choose to ignore all the evidence from this year and his college career that points to the contrary but wake up dude. There is a difference with having patience and knowing when to cut your losses. yay another shitty geno discussion where it doesn't belong.
I said I watched the Oregon St/Oregon game which was the only game I even mentioned I was impressed with any of the players. Its not that hard to grasp. I don't want to bring Geno up in this thread either, there's much to go around on the main board so while I disagree with your points made, I don't wanna get into that Geno stuff here. We've all probably have had enough of that lol.
Can we just keep this thread on the 2014 prospects please? There are more than enough Geno threads in the main forum for anybody who wants to vent on that topic. I don't see anybody in the 2014 QB class who is going to come in right now and prosper given the state of the Jets talent on offense. On that side of the ball we're talking talent worse than the 1989 Cowboys at this point and whoever we draft is gonna get the full Aikman experience. This is a pretty good argument for just waiting until the 4th or 6th round and getting somebody for the depth chart. If Bridgewater fell into our laps somehow then taking him would be a no-brainer but other than that we're just setting a young QB up to fail until we fix the fundamental talent issues on that side of the ball. I'd rather fail somebody at a low cost in that case.
And 3 losses. Interesting watching the 3, very effective runners in completely different ways. Boyd is simply a dynamic beast of a runner. He's not running around looking for a receiver, once he decides to go he goes, pulls the ball down and becomes a great open field running back and does not avoid contact. Not sure how long that will play in the NFL. Note: Don't care what anyone says, he has a rocket arm, lightening quick release and very accurate. Manziel is a scrambler like Tarkenton always looking to throw until the last moment then runs with the ball out and tries to avoid contact but oftentimes gets blasted. That has to stop at the next level. Still an electric runner. McCarron is an NFL QB. He reads defenses and when the pocket breaks down he step up to avoid the rush, then will take off to get what he can and then slides almost never taking a hit. Geez, the guy is simply a very smart QB. NFL ready. _
Ej Manuel is simply a dynamic beast of a runner. He's not running around looking for a receiver, once he decides to go he goes, pulls the ball down and becomes a great open field running back and does not avoid contact. Not sure how long that will play in the NFL.
Anyone other than a QB draft pick from that past awful draft class. That's why I wanted Idzik to get a first in 2014 for Revis and a second in 2013. I wanted 2 shots in round 1 next year to draft our franchise QB. And if you don't believe me, I'll dig out the e- mail I sent to Idzik last year asking him to do just that. _
Lol, EJ is a much bigger guy than Boyd. Btw, you hate Boyd, why you busting my balls about him? Meh, off to MetLife, Geno needs a clean game today. Go Jets!! _
Up there in one of the 10 worst Jet games I've ever been too. Just awful. Anyone defending Geno after today is officially a Geno home with a Geno agenda and cares not about the team, only the player. I no longer want to hear he has no talent around him as his reason for failure. He HAS no talent around him but you cannot miss wide open guys-guys who could have been in wheel chairs and still caught the ball-he missed them so badly. Seriously, STFU Geno apologists. _
If we draft a qb this year id want to get either one of the elite guys like teddy and Mariota or a gunslinger like mettenberger... Or wait until next year. One thing I don't want to do is use a high pick to "compete" if we draft a guy I want it to be with enough confidence that he will start at some point during the year and did so because we completely gave up on geno
Im fairly confident that our future at the QB position is not on the roster. I do love Simms' arm though, I hope he gets the start the rest of the way just to see if he has any future. Next year, Im hoping we go after a QB and rebuild this offense through the draft and FA. This entire draft should be dedicated to rebuilding this offense.
Only Teddy and Aj and even Murray maybe are the sure Franchise QBs to take all the rest are high risk /high reward it really depends how idzik aproaches it im really curious. He got a hard job ahead of him and soon enough we will know the kind of man that he is at may 2014 ( not that his failure or sucess will define that but his decissions moving forward).
We are going to have a top 10 pick and possibly top 5. If we're top 4-5 and Atlanta has the top pick I'm selling the farm for Teddy. If not we need to grab Mariota and sit him for a year or take a look at Carr. Or seriously McCarron. If folks want to draft offensive talent, do it with every other pick we have including the supplemental picks. We must grab a QB with our first round pick. One first round pick is not stocking the offensive shelves by itself, use it for a QB and the rest of the picks for the rest of the offense. _
TBH, I havent actually watched McCarron from a serious standpoint. Obviously Ive watched Bama play, but I havent actually tried to watch AJ. I think tonight I might watch whatever I can find on draftbreakdown. You honestly think we could have a top 5 pick? I mean if we lose out, it certainly is possible. Even if we go 6-10 we could probably be top 7-8. Im becoming a big fan of Carr. The only thing that makes a little nervous with him is the system he's in right now. He certainly has a big time arm and his accuracy is very good.
I've seriously but secretly hoping for AJ since last year. A bunch of folks here will call him game manager, overrated, a product of all that talent blahblablah. The guy is going to be a pro's pro. Guy has incredible football IQ, is the perfect height and build and is extremely accurate. And a leader. _
