Jesus Christ, you really do fit the description of the modern Pats fan. Est. 2001 I'm in a good mood so I'll try to spell this out for you --- The Cowboy fanbase spands the country. Since they have a high percentage of the NFL's fans, the fans want to see them in primetime. See how much you hate them? That's why they get primetime games too. America's team is what they were dubbed when they won 2 SBs with Staubach. Then they won 3 with Aikman. They have a shit ton of fans. Americas team and9 Titletown (Green Bay) stay with the teams in which it was created. Class is dismissed.
The Cowboys are unquestionably the most popular NFL team, and whether or not their play deserves it, they're going to get primetime exposure. Now whether or not the Jets are a team that the "whole country wants to see" and worthy of what some have suggested up to 6 primetime games next season, that is a little more debatable.
I think the Jets see 4 max. They'll definitely get more than 2. They are a team that brings plenty of attention and they are becoming the villians of the NFL. That's what the media wants. The team talks confidently - but the media spins it into the Jets thinking they are undefeated champions every year. That kind of hate makes people tune in to watch them lose, and to see what Rex says next, etc. NFL.com has a link up with Rex "at it again." Its pretty funny to me, but the bullshit opposing fans say because of what they read is insane. Friends of NFC teams liked Rex from hard knocks, and all of the sudden when the Jets are 9-2 they can't stand him anymore. I called them out on it and they had nothing to say.
Jets/Ravens Jets/Pats Jets/Chargers Jets/Eagles Jets/Cowboys all possible primetime games on a sidenote and I may get flamed but all the people saying Dolphins/Jets wont be primetime because the Dolphins may suck, wouldn't it be ironic if we end up with an off year while the dolphins become a good team? Be careful what you say.
They are still an exciting team to watch. Ever since Garrett took over, they've been scoring at will with their backup QBs. With Rob Ryan, and the playmakers they have, this will be a different team than the one that started 1-7 under Wade Phillips. I hope we don't get the dolphins game as primetime, honestly they have a robotic coach and QBs and style of play.
Jets/Pats ... I'd expect their 1st game on primetime. Wasn't their playoff game highest rating divisional game ever? Jets/Cowboys ... Jets drawing lots of attention & Cowboys with largest fanbase in the nation. Jets/Raiders ... Raiders might be turning it around & they've got a got a huge fanbase also. Jets/Eagles ... Vick brings ratings. Vick vs. Jets D on primetime. Jets/Chiefs ... If not this, then Pats/Chiefs. KC made playoffs and should have a primetime game this season. === Jets/Dolphins used to have good chance to be prime time games. Jets are at the level where the whole league wants to see them & Dolphins suck. Fans around the league want to see Jets in other matchups not Jets/Dolphins rivalry ... unless it's early in season & Dolphins haven't been mathematically eliminated yet.
People want to see the Jets play, the Jets are possibly the most popular NFL team today. The Jets-Patriots game was the most watched non-Super Bowl game EVER. Not even the Colts-Patriots playoff games pulled the ratings the Jets-Patriots game did. It drew a 43.5 rating which is crazy high. So who gets more credit for that high rating? the Jets or the Patriots? Its obviously the Jets because the Patriots have played many playoff games that had just as much hype but never could draw that many viewers. I'm not discrediting the Patriots though either, the Jets couldnt have done it alone. Its just crazy to think though considering how huge the Cowboys were and they NEVER got the ratings the Jets just pulled.
Um, I'd guess the people that hate the Jets outnumber Jets fans by at least 4:1. Just think of all the Pats fans.... do you think any of them like the Jets? But a lot of people will tune in because they don't like them and hope they will lose.
the Jets resurgency mixed with the new masses of people who hate the jets because of said resurgency and you've got yourself 5 prime time games.
I don't think they will put Jets-Giants on in prime time, they haven't in the past no matter how good or bad the teams were expected to be but they have broken former unwritten rules in recent years so you never know. This is the only thing that sucks about being a top team, I hate having so few 1PM games but it beats being irrelevant and playing most games at 1PM. My guess would be: one of the NE games one of the Miami games Dallas Baltimore
Popular, no. Most discussed team, probably yes. Every year the ratings have grown. I'm not shocked that in this football crazed country we live in this game got the highest ratings. Next years games will probably top this past seasons. The ever-growing popularity of the sport gets the most credit, with the Pats and Jets being 1) division rivals, and 2) hated by most fans. Rex talks, people tune in to see what the Jets will do. The NFL creams over Rex, because he creates buzz and news the more he talks. He's extremely good for the business of football. They love him. And considering the cowboys have only made it 1 out of the past 3 years, its difficult for them to top what was just done. Its not crazy to think that the Cowboys never did this, the sport was never this popular back then.
well, the year he won his ring he was a big time pass rusher with 12 sacks. So we need that Howie Long.
