The Patriots. That's not even a hard call. The other teams I'd be afraid of right now are the Titans, who the Jets just whupped and the Steelers who the Jets tend to beat as the Steelers double-clutch in those games.
The Steelers and Colts. This is still a QB driven league and those two teams have QB's who can make big time plays from any spot on the field at any time to turn the momentum of a game on its head. The difference this year is we have a very balanced team and a QB who is also capable of turning a game around.
I want nothing to do with the Pats, they can beat us there is no doubt about that. They are the only team in the AFC that scares me although I wouldn't feel to comfortable having to play the Colts but barring something unreal they would be coming to the Meadowlands and I like our chances a lot better there. I think we match up well against the Steelers and our offense is definitely better than theirs. I also think Faneca would know some weaknesses of that DL having gone against essentially everyday for 10 straight years. You also have to think that at some point Palomalu is going to get injured and not be at 100% as well. We'll find out about the Broncos this week but I think they are better than the garbage they showed yesterday but we should beat them by at least 10 points at home. Baltimore, give me a rookie QB on the road in the playoffs anyday of the week. We'd take their running game out of the game forcing Flacco to beat us and I like those odds. The Titans, they are a good team but it was pretty clear that even if they played better we would have beaten them. They didn't overlook us, Jeff Fisher teams don't do that. We are better than them on all sides of the ball. Everybody else.... Chargers, Bills, Phish all need miracles to make the playoffs so I wouldn't worry too much about them.
Edited the poll to include the Chargers since it is sad to say that they are still alive for the playoffs
My preference for the playoffs: Wildcard: Denver - Overcome the horror that was the '98-'99 AFC Championship game, and blow them out of the playoffs early. Divisional: Pittsburgh - Make up for the Doug Brien game (which was on my birthday no less!!) by going into Pittsburgh, and beating them in a hard fought game. AFC Championship: New England - Completely crush New England's spirit by them getting this far and thinking they still have it, only to watch as Bellicheat storms off after the game, not even walking to the middle of the field to shake Mangini's hand after a sound loss to the Jets. Super Bowl: NY Giants - Having overcome New England, as Indianapolis and the NY Giants did before us, we go to the Super Bowl against our neighbors and the best team in the NFL to prove that we really are the new greatest team in the NFL, and true world champions. That is my dream scenario.
I wouldn't want any part of the Pats, our coaching staff always seems confused one way or another whenever they play them and it would be tramatic if we lose to them in the playoffs again
I disagree. To be the best, you have to beat the best. From a coaching standpoint, New England is the best. Not to mention they are our arch rivals and our most hated enemy. Sure, another playoff loss to them would suck, but how amazing would it be to overcome them in the playoffs? I pray this happens.
I understand that you want a SB, we all do. I personally just want them to have to climb Mount Everest without gear to do it.
Very possible but then again we haven't been home in 3 weeks and I ain't seeing the Broncos beating us and plus the Jets had their one terrible loss already in Oakland, I'd be more worried about the West coast road trips
I put that there in case we did for any reason. If we get a bye, then forget Denver. If we play WC, then I want Denver.
Hear hear. After yesterday, and all the a-holes picking against us to lose to the 10 -0 Titans (The best team in the AFC) -- that makes US the team everyone should fear.
I'm not afraid of any team in the AFC. The AFC should need to come through the Meadowlands this year.
