Friends that were visiting from Oregon were with me in the city. I came home around 1:00AM and after I turned on my computer, a friend of mine came on and thru the IM that he has a link to Jay Glazer about Farve coming to the Jets. I was so pumped it was awesome. I couldn't sleep till I got tired around 3:30PM :jets: :beer:
got on line, this morning, and saw on opening page that "IT'S OVER,FAVRE GETS TRADED". I clicked on it, figuring it would say "TAMPA GETS FAVRE". The rest is history.
I was out running at 6:00am central time. When I got back home my wife (from bed) said, "Your phone is ringing or something." I picked up my phone and it was a buddy of mine who texted, "Did you see it." I knew exactly what he was talking about somehow and flipped on ESPN News.
My story was awesome last night. I entered at beiruit (drinking game for those of you who dont know) tournament last night. There were 16 teams and every round was 2 out of 3 and i was in the finals--so needless to say i was gone already. The finals was a best out of 5 games series. Me and my partner(who was terrible, luckily i was on fire last night) were down 7 cups to 2 cups. Everyone was gathered around the table, and in the background i saw on the TV breaking news, Brett Favre has been traded to the Jets, and i started freaking out. I was jumping up and down and left the house and took a lap around it. When i finally came back it was my shot, and the adrenaline just carried me. I swear to god when i say, i made my last 7 shots and won the tourny. It was unbelievable. Best ruit ive ever played.
hello Everyone, I have been a packer fan for 20+ years, and now as of 12:00am im now a ganggreen fan!!! i fell asleep late night with the nfl network on and woke up out of a dead sleep to the great news. i very happy to see farve a jet. i hope to get to know alot of u guys better.
welcome aboard...i am so surprised with how many die hard favre fans there are out there...passionate enough to pick him over the packers.
I had the same exact thought, although a 9/11 reference would have also been appropriate. Anyway, am I the only one who found out from TGG itself? Edit: I now see from the thread that a couple of other folks also get their Jets news here.
poeman Its not some much as im a die hard favre fan, as it is more about how the packers handles this whole thing.
I was at the movies (pineaplple express, quality flick) with my girlfriend, and she was yelling at me to stop checking my phone. when espn.com refreshed to him being traded, i jumped up and gave a tiger fistpump. everyone around me was asking what happened, so i yelled "favre's a jet baby" and everyone started cheering (im in southern CT in an area that has pretty much no pats fans, all jets and giants). even she was happy about this since she comes to the games with me.
at bar in midtown when the bartender called for everyone's attention, he then made the announcement. I went to another bar and then found out the compensation.
I put it in another thread...walking out of the Glow in the Dark concert 3 of my friends call me to tell me that Brett Favre is a Jet. After getting on the train back to Jersey I happened to be sitting right in front of a guy with a Jets shirt and his two friends also talking about the trade. After some convincing them...they also had that lame ass pessimistic attitude that comes from being a long time Jets fan...I think we all walked away somewhat convinced that we're legit SB contenders. Not a bad way to top off a birthday.
I was slapping the ham when it came across on ESPN. Had to postpone that for a bit, couldn't get Brett Favre grizzled manliness out of my head.
