I wonder what the backlash would be if Jeter was stripped of his Captain title. I've seen it done in other sports, hockey comes to mind. I guess it's too much to even fathom but I remember clearly that Torre did not want him made captain when Steinbrenner did it. Maybe he knew something back then.
I've said that before... For all Jeters ability he's a lousy captain.... he CAN be a great leader at times on the field but not to the point he deserves the Captain title... a Captain IMHO is someone who leads the team on and off the field... Jeter just doesn't have it in him... which is fine... One of the greatest players in baseball history, Babe Ruth was only Captain for a day...
