not because he sucks, he was hurt and there was no reason to keep him on the roster Sapp did well later in the year
i dont want to hear about a 4 man front of putting our young dt's on a line and having "ricky sapp and barnes" recking havoc...this isnt happening....edge rushers are suppose to have speed....we dont have one.....my point is we havnt taken a shot (even a 6th round prospect) on a pure rusher since 2008 and we have used for high picks on interior players
how many sacks...how many tackles has he made since being in the league 3 years ago...zero mind you was competing against bryan thomas, calvin pace, greg macintire, and aaron maybin... all garbage pass rushers
Maybin was gone once he started playing and teams were really running the ball late in the games because they were up Anyway, Sapp got a good amount of pressure on QB's last year, sacks dont make you a great pass rusher
i hope im wrong one day and sapp becomes a good rusher... i just don't see a nice pass rush from this team once again
and come one... sacks mean everything... they turn a 2nd down and 5 into a 3rd and 8-9 even a forced fumble..we dont have that
barnes 11.0 sacks his last year of significant pt coples had 5.5 sacks and played about half a season worth of snaps wilkerson 5 sacks while absorbing double teams there are sack guys on the roster. this is the least of our concerns
Lets say a guy gets 1 sack a game thats 16 sacks a year and people will consider him a great pass rusher But there are guys who just create havoc in the pocket and dont get credit for 16 sacks but have just as much effect if not more I dont judge a pass rush by sacks, I judge it by having the QB make quick decisions and flushing him out the pocket
