Well Ducasse being a lower 2nd rounder it doesn't hurt nearly as much as Gholston. Plus we will really get to see how good/bad he will be next training camp. Were Gholston not a fuck up, a Suggs type, this defense would be fucking sick. They still would have lost last night because of Brady..... that being said that was their second best shot at a difference maker since 2006...... Fuck Gholston lol
noticed the same f*ckin thing! All the receivers were just sitting down in the open pockets all night!
Do you guys think that with clinching a play off birth that Kyle Wilson will get increased playing time, or is he going to be kept in school for the rest of the season? Kdub will get more opportunities I'm sure, but for good or bad, I hope it will be sooner than later. If something clicks it can help our playoff run, the potential is there. When Leonhard got hurt, I thought Wilson would see more returns, especially when running two deep. Instead Westhoff was pretty hard on him in the 12/3 news conference. WTF, seriously what has been going on recently with Kyle that J Co. and Holmes would have to add to their duties?
The reason for the zone coverage, was bacause the only DB we have that could cover NE's small and quick wr"s is Revis. Did you notice that even Cromartie (supposedly our "other" shut down corner) couldn't cover any of NE's wr's one on one?
I think it would be a good idea for the staff to give Wilson more playing time during the regular season. It needs to be determined if he can help or not, for the playoffs. Does anyone here feel comfortable with our secondary going up against Indy, NE, Pitt or even Baltimore in the playoffs. I would give Wilson some PT before the end of the regular season.
If we win our next 3 as do the Pats we both end the year against divisional opponents. Miami at NE, and we have the Bills so we could still win the division in that last game. I don't want to risk losing to test Wilson, at least not on punts. He gets his chances here and there in the secondary so we might see that role increase.
They switched to zone because Belichick kept running barely legal pick plays with his little receivers. they got called on one of them, but got away with about five more. Rex alluded to it, but I guess he didn't want to look like he was whining. Can't blame Belichick, he was more prepared, and his game plan worked to perfection. The good news is, no other team has that personnel, so I think the rest of the games will be close, like the first 11.
I think the MadBacker is getting to the meat of my question. I have not given up on the division, but there is no practice like doing. Just trying to work out the risk vs. potential gain there. I don't think, I know Westhoff is going to do what he feels is best and he would know. So I'll give up on returns until something changes. I'd like to see some increased playing time in the secondary though. Especially if we get locked out of the division. No wait, F___ that!, wasted thinking... I just would love to see Kdub step up, and help this team win out.
I just wanted to confirm that is the case. Posted again but- Two Clubs Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs). Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. Strength of victory. Strength of schedule. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed. Best net points in common games. Best net points in all games. Best net touchdowns in all games. Coin toss Finally a Toin Coss I could see Miami beating NE in that game, NE spanked them hard at home on national TV so I'm sure they want vengeance. Plus Miami's safeties still in tact will matchup well against them, which is a key to stopping them.
I don't why everyone gets so upset that Wilson is under Drew Coleman on the depth chart. Coleman is way more experienced than Wilson. While Wilson is no doubt more talented than Coleman, Coleman doesn't get flags thrown at him for defensive pass interference calls like Wilson had gotten that one game. Cornerback is not a position that you are great from day #1, give him some time, he'll get there.
In Wilsons defense, you actually have to be "near" the receiver to have a chance at getting pass interference called. More ofter than not, Coleman is getting toasted off deep or corner routes.
Cornerback is the position with the least margin for error, especially in Rex's system. One mistake could mean 6 for other team....one mistake for a WR usually is just a loss of a down. Corners take longer, we were spoiled by Revis.
Because a first round pick at any position other than quarterback should contribute a lot as a rookie, and should certainly be better than a JAG like Coleman.
BURN!!! Ok, you're right, Wilson has been SUPER as a rookie. That's why he's playing behind the guys (Lowery and Coleman) he was specifically drafted to replace and who were behind him on the depth chart at the beginning of the year, and it's why he's losing the punt return job. Got it. He's sucked as a rookie.
I hope he gets another shot. He'll only become better by playing. We know Coleman isn't getting any better.
