No they weren't and you know they weren't. Stop trying to be controversial. They sucked even more than our current OL (that you also claim to be 'good')

You constantly under-rate how good the 2009 Jets roster was so that you can make a case for Sanchez and you over-rate the 80's O-Line to further enhance your claims.

(awaits generic "try watching the games"/"I don't go by fantasy #'s" response)

I can't help people understand the game, I try but if it says it in the stat sheet then it must be true. As we know all sacks are the fault of the OL and the QB has NOTHING to do w/ any of them.

1985 O'Brien was sacked 62 times, what an awful OL!

LT: Reggie McElroy- 8 year full time starter for multiple teams
LG: jim Sweeney- started 11 years for us
C: Joe Fields- one of the best C's in the game
RG: dan Alexander- 12 year starter for us
RT: Marvin Powell- one of the best in the game

Freeman McNeil and Johnny Hector averaged 4.3 YPC together but I guess they could only run block?

In 1986 we win the WC game at home vs. KC w/ Pat Ryan, we were beating Cle w/ Pat Ryan until he got hurt then we blew a 10 pt lead in the final minutes and lost in 2 OTs. Just a coincidence.

Ken played for us from 1983-1991, we came off back to back playoff apps and won 2 playoff games in 1982. During his career we'd win ONE playoff game- a game he didn't play in but again all a coincidence.

Kenny was the greatest if not for that darn OL!

we were very good in 2009 but people are trying to make it out like we were the '85 Bears. How did we do in 2008 w/ a future HOFer still capable of playing at a HOF level?

I'm far too young to have watched him play, was he decent?

I agree vinny had the best season over. While I'm not a sanchez hater.. I know your not implying sanchez was close to as good ad pennington or Obrien? Your kidding right? Sanchez for most of hos career looks as disgusting as geno smith looks now.

Was a different game.. QBs dominated.. he's was good. Threw allot of tds and yards... hee was sacked allot. Put up big yards. His downfall was the jets drafted him infront of Marino. So it was the constant talk.. if you google his stats there very impressive. Was over looked cause elway and marino were so amazing during that time. He was like a tony romo if that helps... seemed at the worst time the worst thing always happened to the jets.

I would trust Mark in a big game over all of them but a healthy Chad was better, mark is better than O'Brien. I don't need meaningless #s from my QBs.

Sanchez at his WORST never looked as bad as Geno.

Hey Junc, you appear to have missed off the OL Pro Bowl appearance figures while KOB was under center. I think your amazing O-Line choices were all arthritic when Ken took his first snap.

Do they count as fantasy stats? You know, like Alan Faneca (2001-2009), D'Brickashaw Ferguson (2009-2011), Nick Mangold (2008-2011).

I think Ken may have made a couple of pro-bowls though. They must have had a few years where they only chose QB's who held onto the ball too long.

I think you need to get your TV repaired. It's been broken for 30 years.

Now understanding where your coming from. I didn't realize how you feel about sanchez. Makes sense u rank him ahead of pennington, Obrien and I guess even favre. Lol I don't hate sanchez. I think geno smith has been so gross this year sanchez is back with the team next year.

While I say jet fans hated Obrien.. they did, (he was much better than sanchez for the record) keep in mind this is ny.. fans only demand the best.. never satisfied with anything. Most impossible town to be liked ad a qb.

Eli Manning has 2 super bowl rings. Multiple pro bowls. Multiple double digit winning season. He's ripped apart ever other week. Using that as the reference.. of course, sanchez, smith and every other shitty qb is going to be destroyed here. No appreciation.

You cant honestly say in a perfect world, no matter how much you love sanchez that you would taken him over penning ton, obrien or favre with those playoff teams he was on. Let's be logical

who cares about the PB? everyone knows Faneca made it on reputation when he was here. PBs mean NOTHING, Romo has made PBs. Watch the games, understand what you are watching. Ken was my favorite player as a young QB in the 80s/90s and I can admit he was overrate so why can't you? It's not a coincidence that we never won a playoff game w/ him. You can keep meaningless PB apps, I want playoff wins.

average age of NY OL in 1985: 28
average age of NYJ OL in 2009: 29

    there goes that theory

You've read junc's posts right? He'd take Sanchez over Montana.

Ken O'Brien was probably the best QB the Jets have had since Namath (if you want to keep Favre out of the discussion).

giant fans wanted Eli and Coughlin gone after 2006 and in 2007. That's kind of my point, fans will always complain especially about the QB & HC. That doesn't mean they are right.

It's not a coincidence we didn't win a single playoff game w/ Ken O'Brien. I am all about winning and I like guys that help my team win more, Ken put up some nice #s but didn't win and he played on teams w/ MUCH better skill position players when the AFC was at it's weakest getting pummeled in the SB every year.

now make stuff up to make people think I said something I didn't all b/c I obliterated your weak argument. Typical.

:rofl: he'd be lucky to be #5 and I'm not sure he makes it over Pat Ryan at #5.

Our messages crossed.. I'm going to sat again.. I don't hate sanchez.. I really am fair.. he's looked as bad as geno.. he had some gross games.. sanc0hez games against the bills last year was disgusting. So he been as bad as geno if not worse at times.. don't worry, if Rex makes same mistake. I think geno may top marks worst game. There both awful.

    Geno excuse-hes a rookie.

Sanchez excuse- never had coaching and oc.

Well see what happens next year.

    Right now there both gross

I can. He was the Jets QB when I was growing up so I will always have a certain affection for him. He was flat footed, had a slow release and played on teams that never fulfilled their potential. He can't hold a candle to Vinny, Chad, Favre or Namath.

He was, however, a shitload better than Mark Sanchez.

he's had bad games and moments like geno, he has never looked as bad consistently as Geno has and that includes 2012 when he had the worst talent AND Sparano.

week 17 the team had quit, week 1 he was great against the Bills.

Me too, sounds like we are of similar age and again I loved him as a kid but if I had a choice I'd take mark. Mark on those 80s teams and we make SBs.

Isn't it amazing how you speak of Favre yet w/ him we miss the playoffs against a weaker sched and w/o Brady to worry about. Favre sabotaged a great chance to make a SB run.

I don't disagree. I wouldn't put all the blame on Favre though, even if I did want to kill him after the Seattle game.

Have you ever met Sanchez in person? Do you have a vested interest in propping him up?

    Draino is Sanchez 2.0.

He's a good guy but that has nothing to do w/ why I like him as a player.
