I don;t belive anyone is handing Edwards 3 to 4 mill. He played for one last year and did not produce to that number. He's going to get a very low end deal to prove he is healthy and can still play at a high level. Maybe a deal for 1 or 1.5 this year with a good size second year that has a decent chunck of it as roster bonus.

He can keep getting us out of cap hell every year BUT if he doesn't start to make better choices with that money it won't mean shit.

I personally think our cap number is around 15 million

Braylons not getting a better deal than Plax had for us last year.

I think 2-2.5 million fully guaranteed his his best bet if hes lucky.

Its important to keep in mind that we need around 5 million to sign rookies.

Could free up around 4 million if Scotts traded, up to 2.5 million if Hunter is traded or less than 2.5 million if hes cut and resigned elsewhere. Another potential 4 million if DK is traded, around 2-3 million if Devito is extended or cut (obv he would only be cut if we signed an upgrade), 2 million if Smith is cut.

So thats another 14-15 million we could potentially get.

So financially I think its absolutely possible that we could sign any free agent we want (ie Mario Williams) as long as they get a long contract with a large roster bonus. With Scott/Pace coming off the books soon, and cap increases in 2014 our long term cap situation isnt bad. We can definitely make things happen

That said I personally think we gotta dump DK, and go out and sign some TEs who can play Jet football

    After Sanchez restructure...

    We sit at approximately $15M.
That includes the $8M or so we are allowed to carry over from last year.

A Cro and Holmes restructure could boost that to close to $20M.
Cutting E.Smith gets you another $2M.

I'm still bewildered by the guarantee they gave Hunter.
    Just awful.

Unless it was promised as part of last year, which I don't believe it was.

While Cro/Holmes restructures are possible, I dont think theyre probable.

I mean with Cro they could change some of his cash to a roster bonus to spread it out, but an extension type of deal is completely off the table.

And I dont count on them going near Holmes d/t his situation

Bent from the TJB is usually pretty accurate with numbers and he says 12-14 million in room after this deal. Sounds about right

While I love that website and use it all the time, they have absolutely nothing on the Sanchez extension/new cap

Then again if you take their cap number and add the 6.5 million from Sanchez you get about 14 million so there ya go

There should still be at least 5 mil in Cro and Holmes restructures too if need be...potentially $2M from cutting Eric Smith and we're looking at probably $22M all in at the least.

No I think we allocated enough for Asomugha and I guess Burress while ignoring all our other needs (particularly safety...Dawan Landry would have been nice).

    14-15 is about right.

Enough to sign the incoming class and a couple B free agents.

I hope we get a receiver with that cap space, or at least with our 1st round pick.

It's funny looking at that page now and seeing two CB's with a higher cap hit than our QB this year. I wonder if that's ever happened in the history of the league before.

Without looking I bet it happend last year with Andy Dalton. As a 2nd round pick, his contract couldnt have been more than a mil-five and I know Leon hall is making good money, I have to imagine their #2 cb was making more than that as well.

I hope not. Since Cro and Holmes both have almost all of 2012/13 and 2013/14 guaranteed already, the only way to restructure it would be to guaranteed most or all of 2014/15 Season, when both will be 30+

Santonio doesn't really bother me. I think his attitude will come around when the team does and he'll be a good producer for years. Cro might be a little scarier for a number of reasons.

I read yesterday we were 8.3 million under. Add in 6.4 million from the Sanchez deal and that is14.7 million. But there are some additional exceptions we can add in. Each team this year gets 3.5 million in veteran incentives on top of the cap plus I think there were a couple of other exceptions added into CBA which started last year that add a few more million. With veteran incentives and we may have as much as 18.2 million. One exception that I recall is a team can borrow money from the next cap year. Last year one could borrow 3 million. That number went down to 1.5 million this year. I thought there was one other significant exception but i cannot recall what it is.
