Abso-f'ing-lutely right. That's why football permits all teams to compete but baseball has 7-8 teams that can spend $$$, many that can occasionally compete 1 out of every 8 years, and some that will never, ever be able to compete.
lmfao!!! that would be quite hilarious to watch...but then again, how could anyone take pride in that? DBJ proves quite a valid point
No kidding, the WSS was critical for the New York Jets to be competitive as a franchise regarding profitability and net worth.
Sorry you are way off track outside of NYJ fans our mechandise is a bottom feeder just like our record for the last 36 years or so
Let me tell you, those kids play dirty... Anyway, there is a significant difference between the NFL/NBA and MLB. In the NFL and NBA, there is a limited number of roster spots any team can allocate to talent. All of the fluff is cut out on draft day. Baseball teams however, have a virtually unlimited number of roster spots to occupy even the most remotely potential prospect. Many kids forego college to play for Sasketchwanodunkoplis' AAA affiliate club, with the dream that one day they will get the call. It's totally a numbers game. It's amazing how so many people say baseball only has a couple of teams who are competitive, and it's only the ones who spend money. Chicago won the WS, the Marlins have won a couple. It's all about matchups, moreso than any other sport. The right pitcher against the right lineup wins ballgames, and vice versa. There is more even talent in the NFL simply because there are so few spots. Yes, the cap situation helps, but with only a limited number of slots available, only the most talented are going to have an opportunity. Money gets guys in the door, but they have to be available first, and since no team is going to carry 7 QBs, whereas the Yankees have 7 starting pitchers, there is available talent to all teams.
Umm, I already said I was surprised. I thought it was implied clearly enough that I understood I was wrong.
