Lmao @ :30, 1:15, Nice toss at 1:30 jesus. Wow @ James Jones losing his helmet and still running it in during the preseason. Wow.
Here's what I mean: James Jones Saves Rodgers Debut as Starter Tuesday, August 12, 2008 Posted By Chris Mottram 10:15 AM All around the webs today, the general consensus seems to be that Aaron Rodgers? first start as the QB of the Packers last night was a resounding success (the word most commonly used seems to be ?sharp?). That?s odd, because I thought he looked totally average, at best. It was difficult to pay attention, what with Tony Kornheiser comparing Rodgers to Favre because they both have facial hair, but what I saw was a QB who missed several open receivers, including one man all alone down the sidelines for what would?ve been a certain six. The pass that actually resulted in his one touchdown was an amazing individual effort by James Jones on a poor throw from Rodgers (warning: turn volume down): I won?t use the pick he threw against him, because much like how Rodgers can?t take the credit for Jones? touchdown, he can?t be blamed for that interception ? it bounced off the receiver?s chest. Overall, Rodgers was 9-15 for 117 yards with the one INT and one TD, a line that seems fine on paper, and really, it was (although without Jones? amazing play, that line looks a lot worse). I?m not saying Rodgers isn?t going to be a successful QB, or that this was necessarily a bad first start for him. I?m just saying it was anything but ?sharp.? Either way, it was still just a preseason game, so no one should get too up or down about the performance. One thing is for certain, though: He has a long way to go before Packer fans start considering him Divine. http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/th...34/james_jones_saves_rodgers_debut_as_starter
LMAO, wasn't he though. It's always so different when you hear the game called by the local announcers.
Other than the fact that he is not Brett I see Aaron Rodgers as being a good quarterback who may be brittle. In 06' I think, he subs for Favre, gets hurt and is out for the season. I see Brohm the rookie starting at some point. Love the Pack and always will but thank you New York Jets for giving Brett a home. I tell ya I was really bumming in March when he retired. I know its the Giants but it did my heart good to see the arrogant Brady blow an 18-0 record in Feb. Forget about his interceptions, the guy plays to win period and would rather take desperate chances to win and maybe lose by 20 than lose by 6 and play safe. 30% of his 160 wins have been 4th quarter comebacks. You guys have been talking about 30 yds in the air with Pennington. I have seen Favre put 65 plus of air under his ball and he regularly goes 45-50. In his prime he was clocked at 70 mph last year he was clocked at 67. We are going to have fun. Move over Simms as the only 39 y/o QB to take a team to the play-offs.
He got his first start, albeit it was a preseason game, against one of the worst defenses in the NFL. The Bengals did sack him, but they do not generate a consistent rush. On his completions he had all day in the pocket and about a 5 foot cushion in every direction. He overthrew a wide open James Jones and (his name I cannot recall) on a third down. I agree that he can't take credit for either the TD or the INT, but had Jones not scored McCarthy probably would've dialed up a pass TD for his QB. He did make some nice throws though. Rodgers performance was a solid B.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote: I wouldn't say he looked "good", but considering everything he looked ok. I mean, the int wasn't his fault - but the two deep balls were badly thrown. The one that was complete was underthrown and Martin made a nice adjustment. The other deep ball - sorry but there is no excuse to not complete that ball. It litterally was like playing catch, thats how open he was. Beside Rodgers floated that pass to James Jones and set him up to take a wicked hit. That TD was Jones Toughness And, the TD pass was more or less a GREAT play by the WR. The ball was thrown high and away from the WR... ande if jones didn't get that extension to make the catch, it could of easily been picked. On the bright side, he did look much better then most anticpated, and it did appear the talent around him is just too good for him to play completely horrible this season. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- QB is the most important position on the team, the Jets realise it. The Pakers forgot it. For the sake of my Packers I hope he plays well
