La'el Collins would have sat out the season and entered the 2016 draft if any team had selected him past the second round this year, I thought this was common knowledge by now
Caffeine Man, I mean Macc, needs at least two drafts before we can start going off on him. Heck, we even gave Idzik that much.
We don't even know if Howard is the tackle we should be lamenting not signing since he played guard for the Raiders last season. He's in open competition for the right tackle position with Menelik Watson this year
People truly are ungrateful when it comes to the LT position. Brick hasn't missed a snap in his career. Apparently according to PFF, Brick allowed just 1 sack last season - he was ranked 16th in LTs due to his subpar run blocking skills. Eli and Peyton are going to go all season w/out their starting LTs in Clady and Beatty. Clady received a big-time deal a few years back and still hasn't lived up to that contract due to injury.
Brick isn't getting 14M / yr - technically it was 10M when he signed the extension. Next season, he won't see that 14M anyway.
The league said they wouldn't allow him to re-enter the draft in 16. Isn't this common knowledge by now? http://espn.go.com/nfl/draft2015/st...-says-re-enter-2016-draft-not-selected-friday
It is my understanding that's if he went undrafted. It is my understanding that if he had been drafted, refused to sign with that team, and sat out the year, he could have entered next year's draft. I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure that was the last thing I read regarding his situation.
He and his agent said that they would sit out if they were not drafted in day two. I do not think he would have been happy about being drafted in round three but I think a high third round pick (and pay that comes with it) would have been enough to sway him from holding out for an entire year until the next draft.
You may be right, but I think I remember reading that by not getting drafted, he actually got more money than he would have as a 3rd round pick. If true, then I don't think he would have signed.
Before the draft it seemed that it would work out that way. After the draft we learned that there were limits on what a team to could pay to any UDFA and to give him that maximum would preclude that team from signing any other UDFAs this year. He is making far less than he would have gotten if drafted in round five or six but at least he got to choose his team.
Isn't it true that he's making less this year, but his salary will escalate much quicker than a 5th or 6th round pick over the next couple of years. I definitely remember reading something to that extent.
If he was drafted in round four or later he would have been insane not to sit out. Once you get to round two or three, playing seems to make a lot more sense unless you are convinced you will go in round one the following year.
