You dont throw away a season, to accelerate a cap hit. Amd stop counting the fucking calendar. June 1 means nothing. They can cut sanchez TODAY... June 1 is a DESIGNATION, not a hard date. If youre going to spout off, it would be helpful to know what you are spouting about. And Smith cant beat Sanchez, in an open competition.
how about when geno goes 4 years without cracking the top 20 in QB rating or top 20 in completion percentage?
when you are in a rebuild year you do... i.e. the colts going into their 2-14 season. no. pure speculation. nor does it matter. id rather smith not be our starter. im fine with garrard/mcelroy starting. its a rebuild year, the season is a wash regardless of who starts.
I read that..and pretty much thought the same thing. I'm not sure who told him to go to New York, but he has to understand that the dangers of the draft. Go in with high expectations and later look like a fool. If he had been reading any recent notices that he was slipping, he should have thought twice. It'lll be interesting to see if a lawsuit comes out of this. I'm sure alot of money was laid out by his agent to get him prepared. It's just one more distraction he (and the Jets) don't need going forward.
And I repeat, a 35 year old QB who hasn't played in 2 years and saying he has a decent chance of beating out Sanchez head to head is supposed to be a ringing endorsement of how studly Sanchez is? Fact is if Sanchez were 1/4 of the QB that you and Junc claim he is teams would be beating down the door even with 8 million being owed to Sanchez this year. That's cheap for a quality QB....the fact is even if Sanchez were cut tomorrow at best he'd be a back up on almost any team at this point. And that includes the Cardinals.
Mark Sanchez does give the Jets the best chance of winning. That is winning the number one pick in next years draft.
Smith has question marks, but fewer than Sanchez did coming out of College and with a lot more experience in college than Sanchez. That said Geno is coming from a very non pro style offense that worked almost exclusively out of the shotgun, And here's the big thing about Geno VS Mark, in College Geno's interception % was 1/2 that of Sanchez. That said Geno isn't a sure thing, not by any means. However, Sanchez has been a wash and more importantly when the team is down he sulks and doesn't lead...sulking is fine if you can light up the scoreboard with your arm, but when you can't you damn well better lead. He doesn't. Not saying Smith will. But there comes a time when you just cut your losses and say that's it. Again, if Sanchez was 1/2 or even 1/4 of the QB you and Junc claim teams would be jumping at the chance to land him for a 5th to 7th round pick even with 8 million owed this season. And here's the the thing, Geno won't cost 1/4 of what Sanchez will next year (thanks to the Rookie wage scale and him being a 2nd round selection) and if Geno is bombing they're not tied to him in any way shape and or form. The fact is Geno was drafted where Sanchez SHOULD have been drafted 5 years ago, after the first round. No QB should EVER be drafted in the top 10 with under 500 pass attempts in college, you have NO Idea what you are getting.
Ohh well this is the NFL "What have you done for me lately" league so his stats of 2 years ago don't matter anymore. I hope he knows that.
problem for Hobbes and Junc is that's Sanchez's ONLY good seasonal stat, 1 stat catagory in one year out of 4 years....never mind he's been a red zone disaster in his other 3 years.
I doubt a Marty M coached QB can go more than a couple of seasons with sneaking into the top 15 or so. Having Michael Vick in the top 4 in passer efficiency in 2010 was like a miracle.
