That must of been the last regular season game of 1981. The Jets blow out GB 28-3 in a frigid Shea Stadium to clinch a playoff spot for the first time since 1969... the GB loss also clinched the first playoff berth for the Giants since 1963.....

First Jets game I went to was the first Monday Night Miracle. Jets - Dolphins in I believe 86, could have been 85 for all I know. Wesley Walker catches the bomb in OT to win 41-35. I still remember like it was yesterday my dad calling at around 4 or so to say he had tix & me begging my mom to let me go on a school night. It was a great memory for me and a great first game to see.

My first one was in 1984 in Foxboro against the Pats. I was 6 but I remember to this day this old man screaming behind me for Gastineau to take his belt off and just start whipping the Pats with it. I thought it was GREAT! I didn't make it to Giants Stadium until 10 years later when I went and saw them play Detroit in 1994. I did however see them several time in between at Foxboro and since too.

It was Bam Morris that fumbled. It was an ot John Hall field goal that won it.

If I recall correctly, wasn't that the game that three different Jets defenders wound up each getting fined for late hits? I think they set a league record in that category. I remember the ESPN guys joking about it....

Mine was in 1976 at Shea, Jets vs Tampa Bay, then an expansions team. It was one of, if not the, last good games Joe Namath ever played as a Jet. I'm pretty sure that was Tampa's 0-14 year.

This was the crossroads game for Walt Michael's Jets. Having lost 15 of their previous 19 games dating back to the 1980 season, the Jets finally explode beating up a decent Oilers team and wind up winning 16 of their next 22 regular season games and making the playoffs in both 1981 and 1982....

My first regular season game was also 1983, I have told the story alot on here so I'll spare everyone the details but my first game was in November of '83 vs. the Bills.

I might be mistaken but I think it was Bobby Houston who had that big hit. That was our first win over Buf at home since 1986 and the first time I saw the Jets beat the Bills. My first game ever was a loss to the Bills then we beat them 7 straight times and my next game was 1987 vs. the Bills and the Bills won and wouldn't lose to the Jets again until '92 and not at the Jets until '94.

we actually had a chance in that game, we were down 14 but at the beginning of the 4th qtr we were inside the Indy 5 going in for the TD that would have made it a 7 pt game when we had the fumble and the Colts Dl returned it 95 yds for the TD.

obviously I'll never forbet that game. I remember saying to myself that he wasn't moving and I was very worried then they carted him off and he wasn't even off the field and the next play was started. After the game I was talking w/ Pat Chaffey(he was a RB w/ us in '92 and '93) and I got the news from him that he was paralyzed. Dennis was the nicest athlete/celebrity I have ever met and it was a hard time to be a fan at that point.

we got screwed in that game, parcells did his line up in FG formation and punt the ball and NE downed it at the 1 which led to the Boomer INT and gave NE the game. the problem was the NE player who downed it was in the EZ, it was close but his foot was clearly on the GL and they missed the call.

    ok here goes....

    dec 1981

wild card game against the bills

the most excitement and dissapointment i have ever had in anything sport related - and i underline "sport related"......

the stadium was literally shaking for most of the 4th quarter.... for you rookies the jets qb at the time was rich todd, a tough SOB with a good arm, who would throw the ball into double coverage anytime. unfortunately that aggressiveness led to an interception on the buffalo 2 yard line with seconds remaining to preserve the win for the bill.

IMO - the birth of the curse. ggg

My first game was Herman Edwards first game. I believe that was the home opener for 2001 Colts at Jets. We lost like 41-21. We had horrible seats, but we had a blast.

I wasn't there but that was the first time I ever saw the Jets in the playoffs. Yeah, the whole day was a roller-coaster ride. Bruce Harper fumbled the opening kickoff into Buffalo's arms and they ran it in for a TD, Marvin Powell limped off early, we got down 24-0 then 31-13. What a great comeback that would have been.

I've never read your story but I remember this game - It was 17-17 when Dwayne Crutchfield fumbled late in the 4th quarter with the Jets driving towards a GW FG. Ferguson proceeded to march the Bills downfield without any timeouts left and hit Joe Cribbs for the game-winning Td with :22 left and so went the game...
