Every time the game went to a 13 pt. differential I thought, "Here we go. We'll lose by a point. I will kill these fukks." I dare 90% of the Jets fans on here to admit the momentary pangs of doom. The other 9% who don't are liars. The last 1%, who knows what's up with that. Cakes, caugh, caugh... The only time I ever relax is if it's truly impossible - and I do mean IMPOSSIBLE - for it to numerically happen vs. time ratio.
The differences were 10 points and the site. Unlike the Cardinals, the Dolphins were playing at home. To come back from 34 down on the road is unfathomable. It is far too much to overcome. There have been several times when an NFL team came back from a 24-point deficit. Including postseason games, it has happened 16 times.
When it was 34-21 I really thought to myself, This team sucks, atleast it is not 34-23 though. Then thought: Why do I put myself through this?
I understand your logic, but it's the JETS, hello. They write screenplays nobody could ever dream of, no logic involved. It's years of conditioning. I don't care what the law of averages says, or if it defies gravity, or if it levitates - it's still the Jets. Sometimes after 00:00, I still think they'll find a way to blow it.
I just kept thinking, why do they always have to make it so interesting. Just once this year I want to win a huge blow out.
I understand why some fans got worried, what with this team's history and all. But, to me, today's game was over at halftime. The second half was all garbage time and I couldn't take any of it seriously. Kurt Warner turned in a classic Elvis Grbac Performance. An EGP is when a QB throws for many, many yards while trailing by multiple touchdowns. Grbac perfected the artform in 2000. He put up some big numbers in Chiefs losses, including a 504-yard effort in an 18-point loss in Oakland. People who hadn't seen those games, thought Grbac did something special. Not really. What happened was the Chiefs got far behind on the scoreboard and the other team played soft defense the rest of the way. Grbac parlayed this "success" into a big free agent deal with Baltimore. He played one season for the reigning Super Bowl champions, shit the bed in the Divisional Round at Pittsburgh, and then retired.
Or Mets baseball! I was half watching the game, had one TV on mute in the spare room while I was watching the Mets in the main room. I was already tense and negative with the baseball...and let's just say I was not happy when Arizona turned our D into swiss cheese in the second half. If it wasn't for the 7 turnovers the game would have had a different outcome.
I was concerned when it was 34-21, but I didn't feel like the game was in any danger quite yet. If it got to one score, I'd be worried, but until then, I felt we had them at a safe distance still, and the game continued to affirm that.
C'mon. The look on your face when you came upstairs said it all! I expected you to ask me if we had any alka-seltzer cause you KNEW what was gonna happen.... :rofl2:
I wasn't worried. WB mentioned the ebb and flow of a game...thats all it was...they never *really* threatened us IMO...
I'm not going to lie when I say this. The Cardinals first TD in the 3rd Quarter I said was a gift to them by the Jets. Then the next two happened and I honestly got concerned. I said they need a big TD play because there is no need for a field goal. And out of the blue Favre delivered. 3 more times he delivered and I was happy. This in my mind was the best win I have ever seen at the Stadium.
Well, at least I was excited for the entire game instead of watching the Jets run the ball for 2 quarters....
i said to myself why is it they are not playing hard here in the third quarter? why is it they seemed to be in the prevent defense in the first drive of the third quarter? why are they packing it in thinking they have already won the game? wouldnt it have been great had we just played some fucking defense in the third and put a bunch of our younger guys/backups in during the 4th to avoid injury and get them some playing time. that was the most disappointing thing about this, there are guys who do not get much pt that will be called on at some point this year, those reps would have helped them. and god forbid one of the irreplaceable guys went down with 5 minutes left in the 4th just because we decided that defending wasnt necessary in the second half. hmm that would have been great if faneca or mangold blew out a knee when they should have been sitting on the sideline getting an early start on their bye week.
