What's the max $$$ per year you'd give Revis?

Yes, those latter two were two of the worst conceived contracts ever offered to NFL players and were the targets of probably the greatest criticism ever aimed at an NFL owner.

DeMarcus is a stretch, you could get get a good argument going either way.
    Then why bring them up?
Al Davis and maybe Jerry Jones, but those are the only two that I can think of now that Snyder is letting Bruce Allen call the shots.
Anyone paying that big of a contract to a corner back is going to ruin their team financially. If someone offers that to Revis, Tannenbaum would do best to let him walk.

A lot of it also depends of how big a share of the revenues the players will get... if the new CBA remains like the current one at 60% players and 40% owners than a contract in the region of 15 mill could make sense... but if it scales down to a 50-50 scenario that's not the case anymore.

Duh. The Haynesworth contract was stupid of me to forget. I do think the aftermath will keep other teams from overpaying quite so much, though.

My point before was simply that it would be beneficial to lock him up now rather than wait until his contract demands escalate to that point, and I don't think it would even take a Nnamdi amount to do that.

I wouldn't. Revis' contract extension would be in the range of $10 mil a year. The case with Nnamdi was, and Im speculating here, that he didn't want to stay in Oakland and Al Davis had to throw chunk loads of money to keep in Oakland. As for Haynesworths contract, yeah, teams will shy from giving so much cash for someone who had never played 16 games a season besides his rookie year.

You're missing the point. You almost always overpay for such free agents in FA. Then the fact that we don't see a salary cap in the foreseeable future will also increase contract prices overall. Thirdly, three years from now will show some increase in the contracts. Last, and maybe not least, the FA bidding war over a probable future HoF player only reaching his prime at age 27. If we had to renegotiate Revis' contract right now, he would probably get a $10 mil a year extension. But when you take into account the points I mentioned, that $10 mil a yr can jump up to $15 mil a year. Would it happen? I don't think so and I hope not so. A 6 year $100 mil would be too much, but 6 year $90 mil contract would not be too surprising. And don't mistake that for Revis' value. His value would probably be what we offer him as an extension while he is not a FA and not in a bidding war.

And yes, Haynesworth did not deserve such a huge contract. Nnamdi has to suffer through Oakland so he wanted to be compensated for it, but he too was overpaid. DeMarcus' contract is not overpaid. Its a fair contract as he is the difference maker in that defense.

Anyways, these discussions are meaningless. Revis will not become a FA. Tanny will work his magic. He's an accountant. Besides, nobody knows what will happen in three years. As for Rex, he can only guarantee a SB before Obama's term is over.

Tanny needs to load these guys up, and find a way around the future cap bonuses. For example messing with the signing bonus, and all that bullcrap. I believe Holmes lost a bunch of money due to him being suspended, BUT Tanny bent the rules and gave him the money he would of lost in another pack-edge of his contract.

Woody Johnson you want to be the 'man' of New York? Want your team to be the most talked about when it comes to the NFL in New York? Hand over some blank checks to Mr.T, and keep selling that baby oil.

Looks like Revis won't wait 3 years before asking that price. He wants it now. He's asking for $20+mil a year. I would be happy if we agreed to a contract extension of 6 years $100 mil. That makes it 8 years $120 mil ($5mil in 2011, $15 mil in 2012, + 6 years 100 mil). Not as bad as it seems.

Holy fuck, 8 years $120mil???? Thats an average of about $1mil a game. Or $41k a day. Most people don't even make that in a whole year.
