I still like Pryor's upside better but I have changed my mind on the two top safeties. I think Clinton - Dix is the better choice, the tie breaker for me was the sideline to sideline range, Dix is just better. I think when thinking about it, that's probably the most important quality from the FS position. I would be happy with either of them to be honest.
It's crazy, but after this and this, my gut says that Bridgewater will fall to #18 and be the pick for the NYJ.
I still don't think they'd take him unless they would let Simms go. We just signed Michael Vick. You expect Geno Smith, Michael Vick, and Teddy Bridgewater all on the same team? That's hard to imagine.
Well, yeah, but my thinking is more geared towards questioning why they would go after Vick if they thought a first or second round QB would be taken? Why pay a guy like Vick if you knew you would possibly be going after a QB in the first round?
They're not sure about Geno and would ostensibly be getting a sure-fire franchise guy (in their mind). Then Vick truly is a one-and-done. _
It's all unlikely, but I've just got this feeling that Bridgewater will fall to 18. Compared to other QBs, he'd certainly be the best available (IMO), but there's a stronger case to be made that he wouldn't be the BPA available at 18. Clearly, I think he'd be the BPA. That being said, I think he falls and he's the pick. I admit, I've got no cites or insight to back it up. Maybe I'm reading too much into the media hype, but it's my gut feeling. What would acquiring Bridgewater mean for the other QBs on the roster? Someone would be cut or traded, and that would most likely be Simms. The stable of Vick, Smith, and Bridgewater would make the position one of strength for the organization, something we haven't said in a long while. Sent using Tapatalk
It's pretty well known that Idzik goes bpa. If Teddy falls to #18, it would be a complete shocker and the Jets would take him because he's the bpa, so it isn't really a matter of their thinking a 1st or 2nd round QB would be taken. Even with adding Teddy, why wouldn't the Jets want a veteran QB for a year for insurance and to help mentor the two young QBs?
I like beating Miami as much as the next fan, but it's remarkable that the Jets would be picking at #11 instead of #18 if we hadn't won that "feel good" week 17 game in Miami. The effect is magnified by the fact it dropped us 7 spots lower in each of the remaining rounds. It's hard to quantify how much this handicaps you. If the Jets had been slotted 7 spots higher 2 years ago, in round 3 they would have been in a position to draft Russell Wilson (who Bradway supposedly "loved"). In this draft it could be the difference between getting Mike Evans and having no shot at him. I still think we can get a very good player @18. I'll be thrilled if we can get Brandin Cooks.
I'm real high on Dennard right now. He brings an interesting set of skills to the table, he is good in bump and run but he plays very smart on the field. I like how he closes on RBs and scrambling QBs, I like how he blitzes too, and he is a key part of why Michigan State's defense was so good as a whole. He usually has great positioning down the field, and he clearly understands how to use his body position as leverage to beat WRs to balls. One play really stuck out to me, when he was playing Minnesota this year he was lined up man to man either outside to the left or slot left, not sure which. He followed the receiver in motion to tight on the right side, and then blitzed immediately on the snap. It takes a smart football player to know the coverage is right to blitz while trailing a WR to the opposite side of the line on a pre snap movement. He closes really well on running backs and had a lot of stops, and eve when he misses he usually commits to the outside knowing there are other guys coming up to take the inside. He gets a lot of power going for his size when blitzing, and I've seen him bullrush a tackle right back into the QB. This probably has a bit to do with the surprise a tackle would feel getting bullrushed by a CB, but it's impressive none the less.
If he falls to 18, the league does not believe he is a sure-fire franchise guy. Way too many QB needy teams that would have to pass on him. A sure-fire franchise guy doesnt get passed up on.
That last win was important for the mental health of this team going into the off season. The defense won that game , not Geno. If we lost to Miami Rex might have been canned. I don't believe Woody that he said " win or lose against Miami Rex would still be our coach in 2014". I will never root to lose, it's not in my DNA.
