Mangini likes his players to be robots, too, but that shouldn't be an issue for a few seasons. It will be interesting to see how he adjusts to the different role though.

Jenkins to the pro-bowl next year??? one guy thinks so

Hey guys just found this interesting tidbit on ESPN.com Hashmarks
    Posted by ESPN.com's Pat Yasinskas

Going to make a prediction right now: Defensive tackle Kris Jenkins will make the Pro Bowl for the Jets next season.

Jenkins, who's being traded from Carolina to the Jets, is going to thrive in New York. When I was working at The Charlotte Observer last summer, Jenkins created a bit of a stir when he revealed to me that he didn't really like living in Charlotte. He talked about how he preferred bigger cities with more to do.

Well, cities don't come bigger than New York, and that's going to make Jenkins happy off the field. But he's also going to be happy on the field in the middle of New York's 3-4 defense. That's the kind of challenge Jenkins needs to get back to the form that got him to three Pro Bowls.

Jenkins is the kind of guy who gets bored easily and he got bored and disgruntled in Carolina, where he had stopped believing in the coaching staff several years ago. Panthers coach John Fox likes his players to be robots, and the outspoken Jenkins wasn't the type to spew the company line.

Jenkins still played well last year after the Panthers failed in a previous attempt to trade him. But he'll play even better in New York because he'll have the freedom to be himself on and off the field.Posted by ESPN.com's Pat Yasinskas

Also this what Matt Williamson think of our moves

Could be more to come. I like the Jenkins move a lot. Could be a stud NT if motivated, but Puoha can rotate in and hlep take some of the load off. Vilma had to go. Robertson surely will follow. Those two essentially for Jenkins could be an upgrade for NYJ. Faneca is next?

I'm not too sure that Jenkins can make the pro bowl over Casey Hampton, Jamal Williams and Vince Wilfork.

Also, this makes me worry that Jenkins just wants to go out and enjoy the NY nightlife.

Jenkins to pro bowl will happen if:

    1) Our D is ranked pretty high at stopping the run.

    2) We make the playoffs giving us the needed exposure from winning.

3rd and 5th seems like a steep price to pay, especially considering how deep this draft is supposed to be.

If it's "our" 3rd (and not the conditional pick we are getting for Vilma, which could be a late 3rd), it will be an early one.

I hope this guy pans outs.

It's not deep in the NT position. The 2 guys I like for the position are likely gone by our pick in the 3rd. We needed to bite the bullet here.

Yeah I will trust Mangini on this one. That was just my initial gut reaction to the news.

Is Jenkins known as a run-stuffer? I am guessing that 30-40 tackles per year - what he has averaged for a full season - is outstanding for a 3-4 NT.

Nothing, you guys got fleeced, couldn't happen to a nicer coach, right Rat Man ?

So you've used up you're entire CAP, you'll add Faneca and Kris "My better years are behind me" Jenkins, you've lost Vilma and you've lost a 3rd and 5th round pick. No wonder why you guys wallow in the AFC cellar, what a joke.................

Shouldn't you be changing your name to BradyToGaffney or something like that?

Since his injury, he's been known better as a run stuffer who takes up a chunk of the opposing OL than a pass rusher. In other words, he has all the tools you want for a NT.

Shouldn't you go back to crying in your corner with your 19-0 shirt on? Jenkins is 28 and has all the tools you look for in a 3-4 NT. You're just crying because Brady's not gonna have a chance to look at his recievers with this bad bastard in front of him.

Now that this guy got his money, he's going to roll-over like the fat, stuffed pig that he is. What a foolish, foolish signing. How in the world do you not go after a guy like Asante Samuel, a young up and coming stud corner that you could have paired up with Revis to give you guys one of the best secondaries in the NFL. Instead Mangini settles for this overweight, effortless NT that will be no better than average at best? Unreal !! And to give up a very high 3rd round and 5th round draft pick too boot. WOW !! We are laughing in NE over this.

Do you even follow your own fucking team? You build thorugh the trenches, not skill positions. That's how even an average secondary like the Giants was good enough when their defensive line made your offensive line look like a bunch of traffic cones and made Brady go cry to his mommy.

Ugh, I hate when you guys are so over the top. It's not as entertaining. I love it when a Pats fan, or any other rival fan, comes here with some legitimate trash talk. This is just trying to start an argument for the sake of having an argument. Very weak.

And the worst part is, you're so over the top you probably won't last long enough to mold yourself into a good troll.

Just terrible. You guys blow your load so quick.

I lived in Charlotte,NC. I watched him play. He's a beast and I'm so happy we got one of the top 5 DTs. To compare Jenkins with Robertson is like comparing Randy Moss to J-mac, not even close.
