2009, we all gotta start somewhere.

A "friend" of mine asked me to join an NFL fantasy football league. I watched the Super Bowl but never really followed or watched NFL at all.

I agreed to join and started reading up on teams and stats. Week 1 of 2009 I went 16/16 for picks. I was told at that point I'd have to pick a team to follow. After a lot of research, and being a long time hater of the Patriots and Brady, I felt the Jets were the team for me.

After 3 seasons I'm hooked for life.

Lucky enough to catch the tail-end of Joe Willie's Jet career.

Not a good time to hitch my wagon to the team...

Started liking them in 99, but i didn't really start following them till 02, when the Chad era started. Awesome year, until we ran into the Raiders

1982, when I was 10 the strike year, sack exchange and Joe Klecko. Everyone seemed to love Gastineau, but Klecko was always my favorite. He seemed to always embody what we love about the Jets, not too flashy just try to get the job done year in and year out. No matter what. That is why Jets fans love guys like Chrebet. I have enjoyed the highs and lows since then, plenty of both. And still looking forward to a Superbowl in my lifetime. I know it will happen.

Came to the states in August 1996. As I was looking for soccer games on cable In October I came across a Jets game. Didn't really know what was going on or any of the rules but it grabbed my attention. I don't remember who they were playing but they were losing. I have a thing for teams that are down I guess and then come back to win. Well. Then didn't come back. Lol. But I liked them. A caught a few more games that year. And almost every game since 97-98 season. Including preseason. Just started going to games 2 years ago. 5-1 in games I attended. Last one was the loss to the giants on Xmas. I HATE that day. Still don't know how that happened after dominating them for 2 quarters. Hope they get raped by the pats.

That was a pretty unique year in that we won the AFC East and romped in a home playoff game. The last regular season game and the playoff game were the most fun I've had going to Jet games as an adult, certainly the highlight of my ten years as a season-ticket holder.

Klecko got hurt in Week 2 and was hobbling before that. It's a shame you didn't get to see him up to and including 1981 before the injury relegated him to being more of a tackle. As an end he was also great.

Born into it. Thanks Dad. My earliest memories of football are being at some games in the late 70's with my Dad and cousins.

They aren't long gone, not by a longshot - we're just in the middle of a good run and because we're living it, it seems longer and more "real". If they don't win a Super Bowl with this regime, you'll see exactly what I mean.

Born in '94, so not consciously until around '99. And not under my own volition until probably 2001.

Joe Klecko's 1981 season was the most dominant season a Jets player ever had...20 &1/2 sacks ! SI named him either NFL MVP or defensive MVP (IIRC)

He over-powered everyone. He would manhandle OTs. He would tackle QBs or RBs by pushing or throwing OTs into them. He played he whole '81 season with a severly sprained ankle. It was comical to see how much they tape was on his ankles.

He injured his knee late in game two of the '82 season (a blow-out of the pats) and was never the same

As early as I can remember. My older brother was brain washing me for what teams to root for, and they stuck ever since. Truthfully I don't remember exactly when, must've been sometime in the early 80's though.

It would have been interesting to see the 70s broken into the Namath and Todd eras.

I became a Jets fan in 1967. Many of those around me were the old guard Giants fans. Just had to be different.
