I'm not going to get in a debate about my knowledge, or your lack of knowledge, of players in this draft.

Trust me ...both players are not 3-4 DE's....especially Griffen. Griffen will probably play 4-3 DE in some team's scheme or 3-4 OLB. Houston is best suited as a DT, than a 3-4 end, could play DE in a pinch but not his strenght.

Go on draft sites....and study the abilities of these players.

    ???

How did this become about you? You made a claim that Houston and Griffen won't play DE in our defense, but didn't elaborate, so I asked why you thought that.

I've been to plenty of draft sites, as well as watched full game vids on both players, including USC/Cal, Texas/TexTech, the championship game and the Senior Bowl (off the top of my head). Both players are great 2nd round prospects with good motors, and make plays in the backfields.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm asking why you think you're right.

He had hands of stone when doing the gauntlet drill at the combine.

Have you watched his game tapes from this past season? The kids hands got better each year, and they are crazy strong. Watch the USC game for example and see how he plucks down some 3rd down snags right over the middle.

As for the combine...Just remember how well Vernon did there.

Vernon got drafted for his huge biceps. What was our FO thinking?

i said Demaryius Thomas based off the fact it though it was well understood Bryant is a top 15 lock IMO. regardless of his pro day.

Tate is the safest pick, but I've seen Thomas play and if he hadnt been in the triple option hed probably be a top 20 lock.

Thomas higher risk, higher ceiling IMO.

Benn is very very gifted. physical presence but would like to see some refining of his routes.

to me this class is kind of odd. you have insane raw talent and tate whos prolly going to contribute out the gate but never be more than a nasty#2 to compliment somebody (not that thats shabby at all lol)

Williams is nice but hes not 1st rd material at all. like the Sanchez connection though

I like Shipley b ut in rd 2. he can be an excellent slot receiver and the lack of a 3rd rd pick hurts us. So take him in rd 2.

It makes little sense to reach so much for a guy who would be the 4th receiving option in your offense.

First post here from me guys and I look forward to providing many more. I personally don't think the Jets need a receiver in the 1st, but if I were forced to choose it would be Tate. Tate is more versatile than most people give him credit for. Yes, he is a good runner after the catch, but if you've watched a lot of Notre Dame games then you'll see him stretch the field on the outside as well. He would elevate and go up and get the ball extremely well for a small guy. Both he and Michael Floyd made plays going up and getting the ball making Clausen look really good. Remember, Steve Smith had the same labels coming out of college that Tate had and look how well that's worked out for Carolina. Smith was a more polished route runner, but Tate has all of the athletic ability and measurables to make you believe that he can develop into a number 1 receiver down the line. Just my 2 cents.

    Al Davis,

Jacoby Ford only has a value as a fourth or fifth receiver and as a return specialist.

He's not worth a third round pick.

Mike Williams, head case from SU, in the 4th. They guy has the talent to be a star in the league if he can stop being such a douchebag. Not a huge risk for a 4th round pick if he's still there.

If Barnes slips thru the cracks and is somehow there in the 6th, I say take him

Either Holmes or Edwards is going to be gone after this season so why the Hell not? Frankly, I'd take Barnes if he was BPA in the 4th.

(Seriously, tho, still nice to pick up a nice slot guy if he's BPA in round 4, 6, or 7)
