That is one way to look at it but what if the Bills whiff on the pick? We get a boatload of picks to rebuild while the Bills waste it all on the next Mark Sanchez.
If the answer isn't, "No, thanks," then the trade has to weaken the Bills. The trade would have to look something like this: Bills receive: Jets' 2018 first (3) 2018 fifth (157) 2019 third (TBD) Christan Hackenberg Bryce Petty Jets receive: The Bills' 2018 firsts (12, 21) 2018 second (53) 2019 first (TBD) 2020 second (TBD) and Dion Dawkins. This trade takes the one good piece of the Bills' line and fills a need (LT) with a potential Pro Bowler. (The Bills would be starting an unproven line that would include, of all players, Vlad Duccasse. Yeah.) It also gives the Jets the flexibility to fill out the rest of the offensive line while taking a second tier QB with the 53rd overall. Mac would betting his job on Bowles, Bates, and Bridgewater (three Bs?). But, it would setup the team into the future. Again, I wouldn't do it if Rosen, Darnold, or Mayfield was on the board (of which one will definitely be on the board). But that's not the question .
Would never do that trade. But I'll play along. It'll take - Both of Buffalo's 2018 firsts - 2018 second - 2018 third - 2019 first - 2019 second - 2020 first - 2020 fourth - 2021 second
It doesn't matter if they whiff. You never fucking take that chance. If your division rival, any of them, even the little retarded one that runs around the room smearing shit on the walls, tries to get your top 3 pick in the draft... and especially if that little retarded one has a gazillion picks in the next two years... you rape them to death.
