Fact- Dave Gettleman is the Giants GM. He previously served as Carolina's GM from 2013-2016. Prior to that he was the Giants Director of Personnel from 1999-2013. In his entire time with both the Giants and Panthers, his teams' have NEVER traded down once in the first round. They've traded up, they've stayed put and selected so-called "reaches" but they've never traded down. Probably ain't gonna start in 2018. I expect the top 3 picks to stay Browns-Giants-Jets
i read the entire first page and nobody answered the question. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...skins-acquire-no-2-overall-pick-st-louis-rams it cost them 3 first rounders for moving from 6 to 2 in 2012. i cant assume it would be that much different.
Thanks @alleycat9! I did not realize the Redskins had the #6 overall pick that year like the Jets did this year. Trading 3 2nd Round Picks instead of 2 1st Round Picks seems like a steal now, yet people still trashed Mac for it. It does answer my question though. HIGHLY unlikely the Bills, Dolphins, Cardinals, etc trade up ahead of the Jets now. The Broncos still have a slight chance at #5 overall, but might not be worth giving up so much.
At the end of the day who cares if another team trades up or not. We moved up to three to be in a position to get a damned Good QB no matter what, and without trading the entire future away. With so many opinions there is no sure ranking for number one, two, or three in any case. It's what the specific team feels they want on a QB. The Jets might prefer Rosen, the Giants might like Darnold, and who knows where Cleveland will go. Some might want Jackson and many think Baker should go at one. Contrary to public belief, there is a damned good chance we might end up with the guy Mac wants best, It just might not be the guy some of us want but who cares. Fact is we got just as good a shot to strike gold as the first 2. Let's hope we get really lucky for once.
yeah its a really hefty price to move up in the draft, it really was a decent deal the jets made to get up to 3 and part of me understands why they did it early because i am sure it would cost more every day closer to the draft we get. to give up 2 1st can really hamstring your team for the future and i am sure that the redskins felt that pain. and sadly their guy they moved up for didnt end up being a great qb.
An Arm and a Leg Mac tried this already ...and he got a NO No sense getting your Hanes in a bunch over this now
I have a feeling you won't see Rosen anywhere on our board. If it came down to Mayfield and Rosen when we pick I would bet it is Mayfield.
