Nope. 'If I thought I could have gotten Darrelle for [what New England paid] I probably would have taken him,” Johnson said.' He is clearly putting himself in the role of making a personnel decision.
That's a hypothetical. IF he'd been making the decision, AND he thought he could've gotten him for that, he PROBABLY would have done it. If you call that making personnel decisions, you're really reaching. Also- that would fall into the category of obvious personnel decisions. Would it really be meddling to say that you'd like to have an All-Pro player at a 25% discount? Anyone with a pulse would know that that's a good deal, and it's not meddling to state the obvious.
You have to love when Patriots fans are as desperate as this thread indicates for someone else's team to be caught and punished for cheating.
Like I said many pages back... what happened with Jerry Jones when he made his phone call to Adrian Peterson? Nothing ... well move along brah, nothing to see here.
Your premise is fucking retarded. you left out one option. Will the NFL do what they did when the NEP tampered with the HC of the NYJ. Nothing. Piss Off.
Bad example, in the provided example the Niners were punished for contacting the players agent behind the scenes during the season. It's a fine at worst. The hoopla is because Bellycheck is wanting to claim that it's going to make it harder to renegotiate Revis's 25 million cap hit for 2015 because 'now another team wants him'. Resigning Revis was never going to be easy or cheap, that's not the Revis way and why he's not with the Jets.
Adam Schefter Tampering charges against Jets have been filed for comments team owner Woody Johnson made last month about Patriots CB Darrelle Revis, and NFL is looking into the matter, per an NFL official. The league is trying to determine whether there was a violation and if there was, how severe of a fine should be levied against Johnson and the Jets. At a press conference to discuss the firing of Rex Ryan and John Idzik, Johnson openly praised Revis and added, “I’d love for Darrelle to come back.” The NFL’s tampering policy says, “Any public or private statement of interest, qualified or unqualified, in another club’s player to that player’s agent or representative, or to a member of the news media, is a violation of the Anti-Tampering Policy.” Revis’ contract has an option for 2015 valued at $20 million, which the Patriots are likely to decline, which would make him an unrestricted free agent, when the Jets would be allowed to speak to and of him, legally.
I don't think this is going to be a big deal. If it was Revis option to opt out of the contract and he did so it would be a big deal. Given that the Pats have the option not so much. If they let him go there's no question there's going to be some sort of market out there for him and they have absolutely no assurances he'll be back. That's their choice to make. I doubt the Jets make an offer for Revis while the investigation is active though. I doubt they make an offer at all but certainly not while the alleged tampering is being investigated.
The idiot already received a verbal warning for this: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...son-confirms-jets-interest-in-desean-jackson/ This is strike two.
As long as the Jets do not actually bring Revis back a warning or a fine is reasonable punishment. If the Patriots win the Superbowl this year, awarding them draft picks from the Jets not only punishes the Jets but throws off the competitive balance for the entire league.
Well if you can cheat and lose a pick and money then it will just be mpmey. I just wish we could ban these fine cheater cap threads
If this league is stupid enough to award a pick for a passing comment, I repeat a comment, without any intent of active collusion, as when a contact is initiated with a player or his agent or anyone else for that matter, a comment in fact, that at best is guilty of stupidity more than anything else, then there is no help for the media suck ass commissioner of the NFL. If the sob has nothing better to do than to act as a judge and a moral compass and keeping the media on his side above all else, instead of worrying about the real health of the NFL then there is no help. I suppose that money would be an option to deter owner stupidity, but if it turns out to be a pick, Godell needs to seriously look at similar retroactive punishments to his asshole buddies Jerry Jones and the weasel of NE.
