What, no love for Kareem Brown on here? Had two passes thrown his way and caught both for 20 yards (total). Wasn't able to watch how he did blocking, but for a project he made a nice showing on the receiving end.
Cummings led the team with seven tackles + a sack. He impressed the shit out of me last preseason and Rex has mentioned his name as impressing again this year (after the Green-White scrimmage I believe) http://www.nfl.com/teams/newyorkjets/statistics?team=NYJ
yeah when i first saw him going in motion i was like - oh that must be that basketball player TE we have ... nope
Well....I've read all the comments & agree with most. This is my take on what I saw of team in game #1... OFFENSE : Jets' {Shotty} did a pretty good job of play calling...#1. All QB's played good. I like Clemens mood when he went back out for the his 2nd series after the fumble. The tv camera gave us a close-up of his face & how he was fastening his chin strap.... I could see the determination & how he was more ready for business. He was telling himself..."Lets do this " I liked that alot. Shonn Greene looked good. He's the real deal. Jets will have a better running game this season. WR's looked adequate....Don't seem like they will hurt team. All can catch the ball. Another addition can only help WR position. Britt Davis # 17 stepped-up & everybody noticed Clowney & his wacked-out TD dance... TE's....Besides Keller, TE's a work in progress. Brown shows good hands. TE's have a few more games to how there stuff. OL....We all know the starters are solid, it's those back-ups ??? One injury along OL & Jets offense is in big trouble. It seems like Mangold is starting to get nicked-up quite often now ??? Turner #75 is only dependable back-up at Guard. # 72 McCaskill showed decent speed for an OL....also maybe at Guard. OL has alot of work to do & a F.A. signing or trade is a priority for Jets OL depth. DEFENSE : NT/DL...Jets 3-4 defense is in bigg trouble when Jenkins isn't on the field, but most people realize this. Pouha is more prodductive lined-up at DE...IMO. Jets' must acquire a back-up NT before the season starts. Browns have quite a few over there.....maybe Frank Okam ??? Anyway... Jets have major need there & Rex is very aware of this. Matt Kroul #63...though undersized, but what a bull-dogg he is !!! Pitoitua, Zach Potter & my boy...#61 Ty Steinkuhler.....keep an eye on them. Devito & Sean Ellis better watch out. Especially Ellis & his big salary & low production. These youngbloods are getting down for theirs & want a roster spot. By game 3...we'll see the truth. On 1st downs...Jets best front 3 is Jenkins at NT & Green & Pouha at DE...IMO. Passing downs....Pitoitua & Potter {both are 6'6" or better} at DE's & whomever at NT.... LB's : #54 Cummings always plays well to me & is getting more of a chance now. All the vets looked good. Westerman & Murrell showed good speed. Westerman has good size/speed & will get more playing time as season progresses...IMO. CB's/S : Coleman made a couple of plays. Alot of blitzes by secondary...Lowrey, maybe he tried to do too much...give him a couple more games to get settled. Strickland seemed active. #33 Eric Smith is gonna make plays & show why Jets drafted him in 3rd round under Rex Ryan tutoring...IMO. Overall...I would like to see more speed added to the defense. Jets need to look for faster players...especially on defense. Faster LB's & CB's/Safetys. Watching Gholston...makes you wish Jets drafted anybody but him....Hope he proves me wrong !!!
Ah, this is the thread I was looking for. After watching the game a couple of times during the weekend there were a handful of players that stuck out in my mind. Those players that stuck out in my mind for good reasons were: Offense: Sanchez, Ainge, Greene, and Clowney. Defense: Harris, Scott, Pace, and Strickland. Players who I thought were pretty bad to terrible: Offense: Daniels, Woodhead, and Raymond Defense: Lowery, Gholston, and Ihedigbo Players who were...eh: Clemens, Coleman and Carroll.
