The time to trade him was training camp to a desperate team who were willing to take his $6 million cap hit this year and worry about the future later. When I started this thread in the early summer I said as much. Now they are stuck with him.
Everyone understood 17.5 mil hit was not going anywhere, and Mosley was coming off 2 year lay-off with 7.5 mil CAP hit this year. We were stuck with him the moment he was signed.
Not true brother. Sam Darnold got a 2, 4 and 6. Chris Herndon got a 4th. Daniel Brown got LDT. Jamal Adams got a 1, 1, and 3. Never underestimate the chances of some NFL team talking themselves into a bad decision. I am so sure that if the Jets took a low pick and ate some salary, someone would have bitten. Douglas would have gotten slain by fans and media, and now he’d be praised when it became clear what Mosley is.
Macc had a talent for spreading the full load of a contract over the course of the deal and no have any outs. It's giving us fits even going into our third FA/draft offseason without him. Dead money this year on some of his FA dudes. Trumane Johnston - 8 mill this year still Osemele - 3 mill Leveon Bell - 3 mill Enunwa -3.6 mill Henry Anderson - 1 mill. That's about the same money as we're paying Fant and McGovern together, or Or 5 mill more than were currently paying, Moses, LDT, GVR, Feeney and McDermott. We're still hurting through this crap show of players that we need to get off our cap. Macc ruined this franchise and drove it to the ground with his miss management and bad contracts. Yes, JD really had violated these teams in every way imaginable, but still... Older guy, two years not playing football, enormous contract of 7.5 + 17.5 guaranteed. I doubt even the fools who traded for Adams and Sam (young guys on rookie deals) would touch him with 6 foot pole, and other guys you mentioned didn't involve big money. Mosely was a lock to stay here last summer, and he is a lock to stay here now for one more season.
Paying them in spirits, or they have the physical presence of spirits? Not sure what you meant to convey. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
thats not fully true. we actually had an out after this year but due to him opting out for covid it pushed it back a year
I guess its his contract but it just seems odd to me that Mosely is the one getting singled out when there are guys performing WAY worse than him in that defense
Because he's the vet, he's the guy making a shit ton of money, he's the guy who has either been injured or opted out of playing for a majority of his contract. The rest of them suck, shouldn't even be on the roster for the most part, and have no monetary expectations. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
I think we need to blitz mosley every play. He doesn't have the supporting cast he needs so he is trying to do everything. In trying to do everything he winds up paralyzed until the runner or reciever has the ball. We need to use him proactively, not reactively.
because he's the high paid vet. Nobody on the defense has any sort of expensive contract currently. JFM was just extended which didn't really factor in this year. Q is on a rookie deal, Quincy was off waivers, jarrad davis is on a 1 year cheap deal (although he hasn't earned any of it, he's been awful and only seen 6 snaps last game) maye is on the tag but injured. ashtyn, huff, guidry, carter II are all on rookie deals. Riley was on waivers. FOley is on a rookie deal. Literally our entire defense is cheap as hell and 2 of the 3 big money players on IR (lawson and maye) and shaq lawson who we traded for out of injury need.
