This has nothing to do with the Jets, they dont have the talent to win 8 games let alone win a Sb. You cant win A Sb if you dont make the playoffs, the Giants very nearly missed the playoffs and now they are SB champs as the 5 seed. I'd take a playoff season any day over a 6 win season.
A few breaks here and there and 6-10 can easily be 10-6. That is what happend to our team last year? Do you really believe the 2007 NYJ had the talent to win the Superbowl because we made the playoffs? We have basically the same cast of Characters as last year and we were 4-12. Right now I would rather have picks that can hopefully turn this team into a Sb contender one day. High draft picks are better for this team right now than us making the playoffs this year.
Sometimes it takes more than talent, a few break here and there and all of a sudden your the hottest team in the NFL and winning the Sb. High draft picks are overrated. You can get good talent anywhere in the draft. Making the playoffs and gaining playoff experience is what is important.
Though we often disagree, I'm with you here. What's the huge benefit of making the playoffs and then falling short? I want a team to win the Super Bowl- you think Steelers fans care about all those years where they choked or their one Super Bowl win? I'm not necessarily in the "high picks are best" camp but I'm tired of seeing band-aids put on the very visible weaknesses on this team. This team is NOT close to competing in its current state. Changes need to be made.
If you look at the teams that get hot and win the Sb they still have talent that has usually underperformed and it all comes together at once. We don't have the talent at all that is why I maintain we need to build from the lines out. Last year we had to trade half of our draft to get Revis and Harris and it showed on both sides of the lines. Lets say the Jets have a guy with a first round grade and he slips to 2 and we have to trade up a few spots to get him because we won a meaningless Chiefs game and we give two picks that could have been O-linemen. That draft is the blueprint of any winning Franchise.
And for the record It pains me to go 4-12 and 6-10 but at the end of the day I had to come to the realization that Championship teams are built from the bottom up. The problem is most people don't want to suck it up for a year or two so we can fix this mess the right way. If you have good people you can find Talent anywhere in the draft but having higher picks can help you get or target the players you want. David Harris is proof of that.
Yes, further proof that getting in the dance and taking your shot is the way to go. Get me to the playoffs any day of the week and give me a chance.
We went to the playoffs last year with the same team we had this year and we still didn't have a chance.
Every team is different every year. always starts at 0-0. Get me in and give me a chance, you can keep your 8-8 and think it's "progress", get me in the playoffs. The point was just proven, if you're too dumb to see it there's nothing left to discuss.
Giants went to the playoffs last year too with pretty much the same team..Quite a difference in the results.
Exactly. Playoff experience counts for something, too. You get hot at the right time, that's what it's about, but you have to be there first.
I think your to dumb to realize the Giants have a line anchored by a Future Hof De name Strahan that can get to Tom Brady and we have a bunch of bums like Ellis etc trying to get the job done. You can keep you Chads, Hobsons and the loot of those bums and hope for your Rudy-Rock Balboa pipe dream Miracle all you want and be happy with 10-6 and a first round playoff loss. If you think that our Talent is remotely close to the Giants or any playoff team in the Afc this year you are the Dummy! As a matter of fact your just blinded by Jet green because there ain't that much DUMB in the world! I guarantee you we will be having this same conversation about the Dolphins in a few years because they did it right and you will still be bitching about not wanting to fix this mess the right way!
That's funny, three weeks ago in the same discussion you said they were a bad example because they were in the NFC and would have no chance in the AFC. I can go find it if you want me to, Captain Hindsight.
He's probably going to beat out your boyfriend for the starting job, you heard it here first. :breakdance:
In the Afc the Giants do not win three straight games against the Caliber of talent there and go to the Superbowl! I said it then and I will say it now.
