We need one young playmaker at WR and a steady vet. If we get that, we can play with anyone. Our RB's, TE's, OL and The rest of receiving group is good enough to win in this league. It's up to Geno to take the next step.
I think you're really over rating our offensive talent, and "Geno taking the next step" is hardly a given. We don't have a starting caliber guard or TE on the team IMO and the shit WR situation is well documented. If Colon wasn't a penalty machine he'd be fine, but he is.

Sadly Gates would have likely been our number one receiver this year by a wide margin if he had not gotten injured. With Kerley 2 concussions and elbow), Hill (hamstring, concussion and more) and Holmes (Hamstring and foot) out or injured almost every game this year Gates would have been the man. I am not saying he would have lived up to the promise he showed in camp just that he would have been clearly better than anything else we had with everyone else injured. It just shows how bad our WR injuries were this year. At least last in 2012 we had a healthy Holmes for 3.5 games, healthy Kerley and a healthy Gates for most of the year.
people who think kaep is anything special is outta their mind. he had a good season last year but this year he's fallen short of the expectation. he's just good in the system just like alex smith was

I kind of agree with you, except for one major thing: Kaepernick is an explosive playmaker with his feet. He is not a good running QB; he is exceptional. Dude runs a 4.5 and is 6'5", 235 lbs.
I don't think he will be better than Wilson, because Wilson's preparation is astounding. If Geno is willing to put in the time and effort into perfecting his craft, and we surround him with talent (WR/TE), he has the skill's to be a Top 10 QB in this league.
I agree if we just judged QB vs QB, I don't think Kaep can match up with the others. But within that SF system, SF is using him perfectly so far
The guy has a tremendous O-Line, a great running back to hand the ball off to, and a stiffling defense... Reminds me of the 09/10 New York Jets.
