Not sure but burfict was also considered as a first round talent right? So we might get lucky if he falls

I liked McCarron, until I saw that last bowl game vs Oklahoma. He absolutely crumbled under pressure. It got pretty ugly.

Yea, but that's one game...McCarron didn't crumble under the pressure of the 2 titles before this past year...If he is there with our 2nd 3rd rounder or definitely with our 4th rounder i'd love the Jets to draft him(I hate Alabama too)

The three situations were very different at this time of year. Honey Badger had been to rehab, got Deon Sanders to act as a mentor, and was reportedly taking every step he could to convince people that he was over his issues with weed.

Burfict took the stage of the combine to show up fat and out of shape, putting up horrible numbers everywhere. In interviews he seemd disinterested and bashed the coaching staff at ASU every chance he got. It was perhaps the most drastic approach to ruining ones draft stock ever taken.

Lyria has all negative news to this point. There has not been one story that I have seen that shows him getting himself under control or seeking any type of help. The reports from inside Oregon show that the staff was constantly worried about his behavior both in and out of season. The kid very well may go undrafted.

There was one mock draft that I saw by drafttek where I agreed with them on just about every pick. It went.

    1. Eric Ebron TE
    2. Davante Adams WR
    3a. Bishop Sankey RB
    3b. Billy Turner OT
    4. James Gayle OLB
    5. Kenny Ladler FS
    6. Jalen Saunders WR
    7. Jay Prosch FB

I think this would be a great draft, especially the first four picks.

100% agree but i think AJ can be had in the 3rd/4th round...

First 2 rounds we need to grab a TE and WR! More and more i want Kelvin Benjamin, if you watch his tape he has everything you want in a Redzone threat! Size, hands, speed and agility. I want him with our first if Sammy and Evans are gone. I like him more than Lee...

ASJ doesnt get the publicity of Ebron and Amaro but this kid is special after watching tape on him. This kid can be the safety blanket Geno needs but also can block and has speed to get down field. Just not sure he will fall to us in the 2nd round, we might need to trade up for him...

I think early 3rd round is too early to draft a RB with the Jets already having Ivory and Powell, and maybe Goodson too.

Jay Prosch is a FB, NOT a FS.

I'd probably swap 2 and 3. I'd take Barr over any of the OTs, and Mack over any of the OTs not named Matthews.

Lee, a.s.j, Dr'anthony Thomas and archer would be killer for our o.

Assuming Lee and a.s.j in the first and second

Outside linebacker and safety or offensive tackle with our two third round picks.

Thomas and archer with our fourths

I think Barr and Mack are excellent prospects and either one would help the Jets. I think the Jets offensive line is a weak unit at this point. It's not obviously weak anywhere but LG but it is beginning to fray at the strong points and I think the Jets would be wise to do some more reinforcing.

It's not a critical situation like 2005 because Mangold is a lot younger than Mawae was then, however it's still a unit that bears watching next year. An injury or two could put the Jets on the mat.

I'd prioritize Matthews or Robinson over Barr and Mack for that reason.

I definitely agree that our O-line needs to be watched and reinforced. That being said, would you cut D'Brick? Howard?

I wouldn't want to invest a 1st round pick into a player that doesn't at least have the potential to start day 1, especially when we have so many other needs.

If I drafted an OT up high I would probably play them inside at guard next year with an eye to moving them outside in a year or two. I might try to transition either Howard or D'Brick inside at RG or LG respectively if I really liked what I saw of the rookie outside in camp and I thought the vet could manage the transition.

Fair enough. It would be hard to turn down Matthews, especially since he showed he could play RT extremely well last year.

I still think Barr is a top-3 prospect in this draft, though. Matthews V Barr would be tough for me. I'd still definitely take Barr over Robinson, though.

Well you have to take the BPA among competing needs and if you see Barr as better than Robinson you definitely have to take him.

This. If somehow Mack or Barr were to fall to us (I'm doubtful), either would be BPA at a position of need for us. An Aldon Smith like presence crashing the edge when you have 3 D-lineman who could each deserve a double team is pretty terrifying.

The offense definitely needs a ton of work, but this draft is deep at WR and TE. This team is being built to play championship caliber defense. An elite pass-rushing OLB would do wonders to make that happen.

After watching the Super Bowl, I'm inclined to agree.

A few weeks ago, I definitely only wanted a wide receiver or tight end in the first, but honestly you can only win by taking the BPA; offense matters more, but I wouldn't be upset over a Mack or Barr pick whatsoever.

If Mack fell to our pick, I'd run up to that podium and submit the card right away.

The reason the Seahawks have that dominant defense is the lower picks that have worked out for them.

The Jets already have 4 1st round picks waiting to get paid on that defense in Wilkerson, Coples, Richardson and Milliner. I'm not sure adding another one is a sound mid-range plan given the overall cap constraints in play.

    Seahawks defense by round selected:

1st (2), Earl Thomas, Bruce Irvin
    2nd (1) Bobby Wagner
    3rd (1) Brandon Mebane
    4th (1) Red Bryant
5th (2) Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor
    6th (1) Byron Maxwell
    7th (1) Malcolm Smith
FA (2) Tony McDaniel, Chris Clemons

    Jets defense by round selected:

1st (4) Mo Wilkerson, Quinton Coples, Sheldon Richardson, Dee Milliner
    2nd (1) David Harris
    3rd (1) DeMario Davis
7th (1) Antonio Allen (presumed starter with Ed Reed gone)
FA (4) Damon Harrison, Calvin Pace, Antonio Cromartie (?), Dawan Landry

The Jets need talent badly on the offensive side of the ball. They just don't have enough guys who are plus players on that side of the ball.
