I don't think Berning makes the 53 man roster over Bellore, Mauga or any other of the LBers aside from maybe Maybin for one minute unless he's been a terror in practice, and I've read/heard nothing to that extent. Based on what I've read, he is slow and a has a limited range. The Jets don't need another slow LB who is an overachiever. He only flashed in one game.
