If he was 6'5", he probably wouldn't have the same agility and elusiveness that made him such a productive QB at the college level, so yeah, we might be talking about him.

Since the title of this thread is "Who do we draft at QB?" Here's a hypothetical that I haven't seen discussed anywhere. Admittedly, it's a bit far fetched, but stranger things have happened in the draft.

Jets are not able to move up from #6, Darnold, Rosen and Mayfield are gone, leaving QBs Allen, Jackson, Rudolph, Falk still on the board as well as RB Barkley. Who would you take?

No problem. These threads get confusing at times, and rarely stay on track with the one player or initial idea. It's easy to understand how you might have thought we were talking about another QB. Carry on. :)

I'd go with Barkley as he's the BPA and none of those 3 QB's in the second group are worthy of the 6th pick to me. While the Jets need a FQB, they shouldn't reach for a QB for the sake of taking a QB.

If Allen's there I bet you he's the jets pick... especially if cousins goes to the vikings. You did say who "you'd" pick not the jets and I think I would pick the only defensive player worthy....Chubb. He'd do wonders for our defense. I'd grab Lueletta in the 4th to develop.

In the scenario that westiedog1 and EnunwaFan are discussing, there was no mention of Chubb still being available. If he wasn't, what would you do, who would you pick?

In the scenario westiedog1 mentioned, if Chubb wasn't available, and even if he was, I'd probably take Barkley, although I might be tempted by a trade down offer or to roll the dice on Allen.

If the Jets sign Cousins to a long-term deal, or if Mayfield, Rosen, and Darnold are all gone before #6 but Barkley and Chubb are both still on the board, then I'd be very happy with either one unless some team blew me away with a trade offer that was too good to refuse.

I would be STUNNED if Barkley was there at #6! It would be a no-brainer. He's the most slam-dunk ready prospect in the draft. I would take him and look to grab Jackson or Falk or Rudolph later, and if I wasn't certain enough about one of them, I'd look to upgrade the pass rush and OL, take a "Tier 3" QB and resign McCown and plan on fixing the FQB question in 2019 if necessary.

The problem is that FA happens before the draft. I guess it's possible that no other team would sign McCown and he might be willing to wait until after the draft, but the Jets need to sign a veteran QB regardless. They aren't going with two rookies and Hack; a rookie, Petty and Hack; or just a rookie and Hack at QB. If they don't sign Cousins, they would need to sign Bridgewater and/or McCown prior to the draft. I can't see Mac signing both Bridgewater and McCown, because I don't think he's ready to cut Hack, the Jets would need to draft a QB if they don't get Cousins, and they aren't gonna keep 4 QBs again.

No problem. I wasn't trying to beat you up or be critical.

I am more interested in whom you would pick if Chubb wasn't there. Would it be Barkley? Would you trade down?

Damn with Barkley there he's a once in a decade talent and fills a need so it's win win. Hard to pass that up.

I think the Jets will resign McCown regardless unless they get Cousins. I think even if they sign Bridgewater they'll retain McCown because of the positive impact he had. I know I would.

I don't think that's out of the question... Bridgewater is such a question mark because of his injury no one really knows the extent of his durability.

So, do you think that Mac would sign both Bridgewater and McCowns? If so, do you think he'd draft a QB? If so, do you think the Jets would keep 4 QBs, or do you think he'd cut bait with Hack? I know that you'd go with Bridgewater, McCowns and the rookie. I probably would too, and would cut Hack, but I doubt that Mac will. That may depend upon what Bates thinks of him and how much progress they think he's made.

Yes to all the above. I could see Macc keeping all four through TC and if Hack rises up (which I doubt), and Bridgewater shows promise, he cuts McCown and hires him as a coach. Of if Hack sucks (likely) he cuts him. Or if B'water doesn't show he's recovered, he lets him go.

Yes, interested in your thoughts. Gave up trying to figure out what the Jets are thinking. BTW, Chubb is a legitimate answer. For my scenario, assume all other draftees would be available at #6 except the 3 I mentioned.

Lol....you and the rest of the board I'm sure. It appears the Vikings are exploring other QB options so they maybe having second thoughts on cousins. I'm thinking cousins is inching his way to becoming a jet. Not certain but it's looking like its a possibility. I'm 50/50 on it. I like the idea of not having to develop a QB.
Then that leads to being able to draft an impact player at 6. Chubbs defense but man we need a pass rusher. Then I would go with a C/G and RB in 2. A corner in 3 and Lueletta in 4 to develop behind cousins. Everything else is gravy.

That's a fair choice. My problem with pass rushers is that they often don't turn out to be. I love how they label these guys "edge" and figure they'll ring up at least 10 sacks in the pros. I think predicting success at "edge' rusher is riskier than at QB. Look at the hype around Clowney and the latest one, Garrett. Neither one got anywhere close to 10 sacks their first year. Not saying Chubb is a bad choice, just saying "caveat emptor."
