I know your a COB fan...ever hear their cover of "The Trooper"? I actually like it more than Maiden's version! Haha

 

Yeah, I usually don't really like covers because too many times they don't offer anything that the original song doesn't, and bands tend to only make them as EP filler material. That said COB's version of the Trooper is awesome. They also do an awesome cover of Europe's "The Final Contdown."

They could have done without the cover of Britany Spears' "Oops I did it Again" though...

 

Iron Maiden is easily one of the most covered bands while i'm thinking about it.

Cradle of Filth's version of "Hallowed Be Thy name" is also one of the best Iron Maiden covers I've ever heard.

Sentenced did a "Trooper" cover a while back that was really good as well.

 

I agree I find it very original when one metal band covers another and its basically nothing different than the old song. I want creativity thats why I loved some of Megadeth's covers.

Norther had a cover on "The Final Countdown". It was ok I guess, I just never like the original version to begin with

 

The original version of "Paranoid" is forever ruined for me thanks to Megadeth's awesome cover.

 

Hah. While we're on the topic of cover songs, one of my favorite ones is 1349's cover of Mayhems "Buried in Time and Dust". It may not be as good as the original, but its still pretty darn good in my book.

That song has actually been covered a few times. Obituary and Opeth did good versions of it. Classic metal right there!
