Tonight it's the Four Tops - Abdul "Duke" Fakir, the last surviving original member has passed away. Summertime party music! RIP, Duke, and thank you! Four Tops "Reach Out I'll Be There" on The Ed Sullivan Show (youtube.com)
Damn, that's depressing. It always made me laugh how Mr. Whitebread (a/k/a Pat Boone) would ride the coattails of some of these guys.
I don't give a shit what anybody says this is one of the precursors of rap. People can fight me. This song was always on our shitty Panasonic AM radio (WABC) as it was leaking battery acid into the sand at Jones Beach.
Alright, I'll probably get steamrolled for this, but I'm just gonna say it. Elvis Presley kind of sucks???? When people say in their collective mental worldwide mental illness that Jesus was resurrected and was seen by 500 people, I always go people see Elvis walking around in downtown Memphis everyday, not impressed, what's your point.
I'm listening to Blues Breakers right now, marking the passing of John Mayall at the age of 90. No one was more influential in the exploding British blues scene than Mayall in the second half of the 1960s, with the alumni of his group including Peter Green, Mick Taylor, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Jack Bruce, and of course most famously, Eric Clapton. RIP.
I love 'White Room', but Eric Clapton is kind of a POS. Man, it is so hard to separate the art from the artist sometimes. It is a really tough charge.
I first thought this was about the Oscar winner... "Arthur's Theme" Wins Original Song: 1982 Oscars (youtube.com)
I saw Steve Winwood and the Doobie Brothers at the Garden on Wednesday night, so I've been listening to some Spencer Davis Group and Traffic since then.
Ii was trying to like that. I failed. I'm not an expert on country or anything but Graffin sounds like a Jim Henson voice on there.
Haha, yeah he does! I ran into Jordan Rudess at the Apple store in Nanuet about 10 years ago. Great guy.
