Nice rainy afternoon, cracked a bottle of chianti, prepping for a wild mushroom ragu over bucatini and have this on in the background. _
This was on the last episode of Fargo.....and it's use was perfect. I was never big on this song by The Mama's and The Poppa's, and am not much of a fan of theirs. But this is just one terrific cover. With a better reading by Bobby Womack. He does this song right with his blues tinged with soul rendition. I had never heard it before and really wasn't familiar with Womack. I'm gonna catch up on him now.
Bobby Womack is amazing. I'm so grateful I was able to see him live just weeks before he died. The show was outstanding too. The guy was so brilliant.
I can't stop listening to David Bowie's new album, Blackstar, which just came out today. Stellar material. And it gets better with every listen.
He is in New York February 6th. Be my guest if you aren't just making fun of me https://www.facebook.com/MohsenNamjoo
I was not making fun of you, it's the first song you've posted that I could get through to the end. Actually that I could get past 30 seconds. Not bad at all. I'm not going to NYC to see him though _
Okay this is a new one. A song written for a Turkish teenage girl called Ekin Ceren Dogruak. She is Turkish but she joined Kurdish resistance movement and died in a clash with Turkish army when she was 23. She is also beatiful. So stay away from her you pervert.
And last one. Please listen this one till the end Stokes. These women are Kurdish guerilla's fighting for the freedom of the Kurds in Turkey. They are 1000 times more man then I am. Please listen to it. They are singing for their friend Zilan who died in a clash with Turkish army in Tunceli, Dersim a city Turkish war planes leveled back in 1930's.
Too ethnic. Don't you have any songs about crashing the mall or sex and hashish and anatolian rock? _
Nice. I was familiar with the name but never really listened to anything by him. After I heard that song I went straight to Amazon that night and bought the album that song originally came out on. Been listening to it in the car since. I hear so much of the influence he had on people later. Maybe at the top of that style for me. I like Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Curtis Mayfield, but Womack might be my favorite now
