He is not playing well, but I think its because he is too excited/not being patient. He is not waiting for holes to develop and just bursts into the line, or trips over his own feet. Kid needs to settle down and he will be alright.
My list: Geno, Demario, Willie (would have kept him, but later to him after drawing a 15 yarder in his street clothes) Cumby Quigley Breno I would keep Brick. The guy is playing alright, its tough to replace an LT, and he has been a great Jet.
I second this list with the exception of Breno, Winters has to go. In defense of Breno he has been above average with the exception of his game against Watt. That was on Gailey though, he should have known better than to have Breno one on one in 4 and 5 receiver sets against the best pass rusher in the NFL. Unless the jets can find a better option for Breno, he should be back. They have to find a RG though, I don't think Colon or Winters can be brought back next year as starters.
To be fair Ridley is coming off of an injury and is dirt cheap. It really costs us nothing to bring him into camp next year to see what he has to offer.
Giacomini - seems to be most penalized most beat lineman we have Winters- more of I don't want to see him starting than gone altogether Cro- I'm with all the others. He has played better last few weeks but still too inconsistent Enunwa- similar to winters I just don't think he is a starter in the league. Geno- no reason to have him on the team anymore Surprisingly that's really all. I think the easiest place for this team to improve is the guard and right tackle spot, tight end, and 3rd receiver. I think people are being hard on dbrick. He's still an above average starter and reliable which is so important. Anything that's a decent blocker and receiving threat is an improvement at tight end. And also important we need a kick and punt returner. We have been missing that dynamic since Brad Smith left.
Cromartie Demario Davis Calvin Pace I think each can be replaced and not see much of a dropoff. Colon and Winters are cost controlled, but if we took a guard early, I wouldnt mind one being cut loose.
Colon - Mediocre, penalty machine. Not worth it. Cromartie - Doesn't know how to cover someone well without committing a penalty Ferguson - In the middle of a steep decline. Not going to get better. Winters - Just doesn't get the job done. Needs to be replaced. Enuwa - I just don't think he's good. Kerley is still better but because he probably slept with Todd Bowles' wife, he doesn't play much. Davis - Can't cover for shit, looks lost a lot Pace - Shouldn't be starting. Make a backup. Harris - Lowest priority to be replaced. Quigley - Shit tier punter (You should pretty much never hear a punter's name mentioned and his gets mentioned a LOT) Anyone involved in special teams coverage - No one can maintain lanes. No one can tackle. No one can shed a block. Anyone involved in blocking on punt returns - Returners never have a chance to return anything.
Jeremy Kerley is at the top of the list for me,we need a real kick returner.Calvin Pace has needed to be replaced for many years. After those two Ryan Quigley,Cromarite,Ridley,Winslow and Jeff Cumberland.Id keep Geno because he would be as good or better then the average back up QB and his contract is cap freindly. We need depth at TE more then anything, imagine how good this offense could have been with a real TE.Hopefully Amaro is that guy but id look for other options
Willie Colon was actually a big part as to why our run game was good before he got hurt.. But if I had to choose who i'd rather not see back next year, it's definitely Demario Davis.... Pace we can replace, and Geno, because fuck him that's why.
I think Brick does need to restructure if he wants to stay a Jet but the line is giving up the least sacks per pass attempt of any team in the league, one team has given up 2 less sacks but on 92 less pass attempts. Keeping Fitz clean has helped this team immensely.
Those who wanna cut Brick are crazy. He valuable to the team and still playing well into the top half of LTs in the league, if not even higher. Brick has already 'restructured' several times which NEVER saves the team overall cap $, it just pushes it further down the line. Well, here we are, further down the line. I'd bet 90% of Brick's cap hit would be dead money at this point from all the 'signing bonuses' he got every time he restructured. It's time to pay the piper. But....if Macc could convert Wilk's trade into a brand new top end Left Tackle no one would complain.
I don't like the idea of a wilkerson trade... but i do think i'd look into a Sheldon trade if some one offered something that could really change this franchise. I like how Leonard Williams is panning out.
1) Cromartie Marcus Williams is our clear first option to replace him. Heck, even Dee Milliner might be a starter. Absolutely no reason to cut Milliner. As much I as I would have preferred to draft someone else (and I did), we hold all the cards when it comes to Milliner. 2) Demario Davis UFA that someone else will pay much more. Better for us to roll with Henderson, a draft pick or even a cheap FA pickup. 4) Breno Giacomini Below average & we could certainly find better. More focus on the draft, but an open eye for a short-term FA pickup. 5) Kerley IMO, JK got a little bit of a raw deal. He was a victim of coaching staff change & just didn't fit their system. But 2016 salary is $2.5 million that we clearly need elsewhere. 6) Cumberland Even with Jace Amaro out for the year, Cumberland couldnt do anything. $2 million 2016 salary === we could get by with signing someone to veteran's minimum. I'm indifferent to guys like Colon & Pace. We could get them back at the 1 year veteran's minimum if need be. Dont expect to see them on a different team, -- its either the JETS or nothing D'Brick will restructure. Brian Winters 2016 salary at $708k makes it hard to kick him to the curb. But I want him strictly as backup. We're severly lacking at OG on the roster.
