No, this is "it's completely unnecessary to waste a first rounder on a RB".

Hmm, I kind of like the idea of drafting James, but not in the first round.

I think James could be in for a Jon Dwyer fall. I think James is a tremendous athlete, but hes coming out of an offense that doesnt translate in in the NFL, and he has kind of a small frame.

This is too early to be discussing this as the season is still young and McKnight hasnt really had a chance to show his offensive capabilities

I don't see RB as a pressing need at all. I think Greene is a good player, Powell will do OK, and change-of-pace backs are a dime a dozen these days if McKnight doesn't work out.

The Jets' priority need is OL the way I see it. This is an absolute must and cannot be ignored under any circumstances. The depth has to be shored up no matter what, and if Hunter falters and Ducasse isn't ready, RT will need to be addressed immediately with a long-term solution.

As the second-highest need, I'd pinpoint a cover safety who specializes in neutralizing tight ends to take over Pool's roster spot. You need a big player who doesn't necessarily have to be a beast in run support but can blanket a tight end or big WR if need be. This would be an invaluable part of the defensive rotation.

After that, there will obviously be room for a big possession WR who can be a really good red zone target, assuming that Plaxico leaves.

Beyond that, I don't think OLB is a huge need because Thomas and Pace are good players, but a good pass rusher to toss into the rotation would be a big plus. I'd rank that fourth.

Fifth, I'd look for a defensive end to upgrade from DeVito to play across from Wilkerson.

I'd put all that ahead of RB. I might put depth CBs ahead of RB also.

I was with you until I got to this.

Bryan Thomas is a free agent after this season. Westerman cant start. He's just not good enough. We need an OLB to replace him.

A upgrade for Devito? Why? You can't have superstars at every position and Devito does a good job. Have you forgotten about Ropati and Dixon?

    CBs ahead of RBs?????

yeah I'm sorry you are right having a better dime back is definitely iimportant

Well... I mean... if a RB was the BPA by a mile why not get him in rd 1? But it's a very unlikley scenario...

Unless it's Adrian Peterson sitting there you don't do it. There is infinitely more value taking a RB late in RD2 or 3.

As of right now, there is only one RB that has a 1st Rd grade..Trent Richardson. I seriously doubt Tanny is going to draft a RB in late rd 1. There will be some very good OLBs, RTs & WRs available in the second half of rd 1.

Unless we're talking about an every-down running back, it's not worth it to draft one in the first round. Running back is arguably the easiest position to fill in football. Look at guys like Arian Foster and LeGarrette Blount who weren't even drafted and are starting in this league. There are other positions (such as WR and OLB) that hold much more positional value and make a lot more sense to address in the first couple rounds.

Sure fire first round backs are so rare, and if the Jets were in the position to get one, I'd assume there would be more pressing needs. Besides, the biggest key to an effective run game (especially in our offense) is a solid OL.
