I remember both games. The 6-3 Pats win was a typical Coslet coached game, losing at home in a must win situation to a poor team. This was Pat Leahy's last game as he shanked an early FG and pulled his hamstring. Louie Aguiar had to resume FG duties and he missed like a 20 yarder. Then TE Mark Boyer dropped a 4th down pass at the end of the game in which the Jets had to go for it because they didn't trust the kicking situation. Typical Jets. The 6-0 Jets win two years later was played in a monsoon. They were about to lose in the final seconds when Russel fumbled the wet football on the goaline. I still remember the sideline shot of Parcells after that fumble with that angry dazed look on his face with his soaked pncho covering most of his head, a pretty funny site....
OK so when do they stop riding on the success of a team that hasn't been noteworthy since the late 60s? That's it and that's all.
If the Jets ever went NJ Jets I'd by no means like them anymore but it will never happen so I don't have to worry about it. The only reason the Jets & Giants play in Jersey is the fact that there is just no place in the NY Metro area for a stadium with the exception of The West Side, and we all know how the chances of building there will go, and on the site of the old Worlds Fair in Queens which no one seems to have any interest in, at least Woody didn't, so with the swamp land just sitting there in spitting distance of NY City, the Giants built there and the Jets moved in as well. It's not like they play in Newark or something, then NJ fans would have an argument. The Jets and Giants are NY teams, their roots are there, it's where both teams started but unfortunatly, unless you share with a baseball team, a NY Football is left almost no choice but to play in East Rutherford...
Well that depends. Did they all hold you down and stab you? Orient Express style? then yes. If we are talking about say a murderer on a team maybe Ray Lewis For instance? Or maybe O.J. is more your speed? then the answer is a resounding no. If you are simply talking about maybe dying over worry over your team then probably not. but it could be a fun debate overall
Speaking as a non-Jets fan, I think the Jets uniforms are great. 40+ years old and still distinctive. Kind of like the Colts, actually, who still wear basically the same uniform they did in the days of Unitas and Berry. Or the Cowboys, who haven't changed their uniform in any important way since 1964.
The Colts were horrible in the 70s, 80s, and 90s and they still kept their old uniforms. I just don't see the reasoning behind changing UNIs. I like our identity.
Here is a new name for the JETS. New Jersey Landfills. They could put a photo of a landfill on their helmets. Colors mustard and brown. It would be fitting seeing how Woody has treated us fans by building a joint stadium with the Giants after promising the Jets a home of their own when he bought the team, charging PSL's, and the garbage product he is putting on the field.
