Is it that crazy to trade an entire draft for a franchise QB and a franchise #1 WR? Those are some of the most coveted positions in the NFL and the hardest to find stability at, especially QB. I understand that the suggestion is radical, but sometimes you gotta do radical things to get radical results... Obviously it is a "What If' scenario, but I'm very curious to see what Denver and Cle get for these players IF they end up being traded. I would assume a 1st rounder would certainly be involved in a Cutler deal... I'm not so sure about B. Edwards...
somebody give this kid a tootsie pop...before we trade T.Jones and our 1st round pick for Peyton Manning.
it would take more than wasting away 1 draft's entire picks ...the proposed 3 way trade involving the lions....would have resulted in the broncos getting 2 first round picks AND matt cassell...a trade that didnt go through we don't have 2 first round picks or matt cassell...it would involve throwing away early picks in (at least) the next 3 drafts and then i'm sure the browns would give us a fair market value for braylon edwards i hate you
winning a Super Bowl isn't a radical result, it is the result of building a team by sound means, with players who are great and affordable and don't cripple your ability in how they are obtained to also fill out the rest of your roster with quality players. your proposal doesn't fit into that pattern of behavior in any way.
this is the reported 3 way trade involving the lions... Denver trades Jay Cutler, #48 pick (2nd round) and #79 (3rd round) Detroit trades #1 pick (1st round) and #20 pick (1st round) New England trades Matt Cassel Denver receives Matt Cassel, #1 pick (1st round) and #20 pick (1st round) Detroit receives Jay Cutler and #79 (3rd round) New England receives #48 pick (2nd round) and denver would have reportedly received Tampa's #1 and #3 along with Matt Cassell in the other 3-way trade and without Matt Cassell to give the broncos any reasonable solution at QB....i'm sure they would be willing to settle for lower compensation and a rookie qb you're an idiot...
You guys are all full of nonsense. If we pulled off this trade, and I must mind you that it is very doable, we would: -win every game by 97 points -Cutler would break Marino's season passing records -Peyton Manning would rename his kids Jay and Braylon -Favre will say it was his fault because he trained the team to win -Mangini would come crawling back and all of the Jets fans would rejoice since the savior is back -Bellicheck will admit that he was wrong for ever leaving the Jets organization -TO would work his way out of Buffalo to come to the jets -Parcells and Bellicheck would argue over who would be the next head coach of the Jets -the massive spending on Jets superbowl memorabilia would stimulate the global economy would recover overnight. And that is exactly what would happen. Tanny get it done.
it doesn't matter whether we would do it, there would be other parties involved as well, and why would they do it?
Yes, but its not like Denver is only giving up J. Cutler and getting two 1st round picks in return. They're also giving away their 2nd round pick and their 3d round pick. So lots of 1st day picks are changing hands, but the Broncos are certainly giving some back as well.
Once again, I played Madden franchises with other people on-line, and unlike in the NFL I would not have given up K. Winslow for a 2nd and a 5th rounder. In the Madden world K. Winslow would command a MUCH higher price... so, unlike the Madden world the NFL seems to be a bit more reasonable. You think I can get Randy Moss in Madden for a 4th rounder because he has attitude issues?
I don't know, you brought it up. I'm only mentioning Cuter and B. Edwards because reports suggest that they are in fact on the trade block.
That's the thing... Lets hypothetically say that we'd dish out the entire draft some how this season for those 2 players... Obviously I'm not saying that's doable, but lets just entertain the idea. I think any team would find itself very fortunate to come out of a draft with J. Cutler and B. Edwards... I would personally call that a successful draft even if every other pick was a complete bust. These are two young players with insane potential at key positions. Most people would agree that a franchise QB is very important in building a strong foundation and a winning team. Now you may disagree with my opinion that J. Cutler could potentially be that QB, but that's a different story.
Imust havemissed it. Did you clearly explain how would we make this trade. What will we give up for each player? What kind of effect will this have on our salary cap? How will the lack of draft picks affect or depth on defense and the oline?
Well the entire bases of this thread is "What IF".. .meaning, What if it's doable? All I know is that these two players are on the block... what the price would be.. I don't know. I'm currently defending the idea that trading all of our draft picks for this year in any combination to acquire these two would not be a bad move.
